~ EXCERPT ~
The battle over the federal deficit hasnt flipped in favor of the Democrats. The GOP isnt suddenly at grave risk of losing its House majority.
But after two years of getting pummeled over spending and the size of government, Democrats now appear to have found a political weapon thats capable of evening out the fight: Medicare.
The popular entitlement program wasnt the sole issue behind Kathy Hochuls upset victory in a New York special election Tuesday night, but strategists in both parties say it was an important force. And for the first time since November, the idea that Democrats might have a shot at winning back the House is no longer a laughing matter.
The three-way race between Hochul, Republican Assemblywoman Jane Corwin and self-funding independent Jack Davis offers at best mixed omens for the 2012 campaign. Hochul drew a stronger than expected 47 percent of the vote, and Corwin won an anemic 42 percent, but the 9 percent Davis took as a third-party candidate prevented any candidate from getting a telling majority.

There's only a 5-point difference between the two candidates, sheesh!
Besides, the reason the Democrat won is because of the conservative independent candidate who ran.
If not for him, the Democrat would have lost this race.
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Let them think they won it because of their strategy.
And the 3rd party fake Tea party candidate a “former” wealthy democrat did just what he was supposed to do.. take the winning majority away from the Republican ...watch for more 3rd party candidates in republican districts
They will pound away with Mediscare and terrorize senile citizens. The GOP was ineffective in explaining their plan. One insane Rat was screaming the Republicans are going to throw Granny out of the Nursing Home. It will get even worse with the aid of the MSM. Ryan walked in to this one with eyes wide open.
The independent isn’t a conservative. Don’t be fooled by the Tea Party mask.
What it did do is remind TEA Party folks and Conservatives what happens when Third Party Candidates run ~ namely, we lose and the Democrats win.
The third party candidate wasn’t a conservative independent. He was a former democrat candidate who created his own “Tea Party” line and confused some of the electorate. This type of false flag operation could be used in 2012.
So, the question then becomes: Why were the NY TEApartiers so easily head-faked? Not rying to slam New Yorkers (way too easy); asking a legitimate question.
Easy. New Yorkers are stupid, lazy, greedy, oh & did I mention stupid?
they took out 500billion from medicare for obamacare. I don’t see how that benefit them. They’re not saving medicare by bankrupting the nation. They’re ensuring medicare die
We are in Soviet territory. The problem with people in New York is that they don't think they should ever have to pay for anything... ever.
They don't care that there is no money in Medicare... make somebody or some other state pay. That is how blue states think. Look at Detroit. That is what New Yorkers and all residents of blue states want for this country.
I guess only New Yorkers are stupid enough to fall for the fake Tea Party candidates. Hey were run all around the country last year with zero affect. We had one in our district and our GOP candidate beat the Dem incumbent. NY voters do not reflect any other state that matters in 2012.
Donald Trump was a template and prototype, eh?
Maybe so.
"A former Democrat running as a Tea Party standard-bearer, Davis likely skewed the results against the GOP nomine."
That's the key and that's also the democrat strategy. No matter what they use as their misdirection vehicle, getting a third party in the race is their real strategy. There will be one or more big money "former democrat" donors trying to get a third party on the national ticket, probably someone claiming to be a "Tea Party Democrat" or some such crap. If they can't drum someone up on their own, they'll hand a ton of cash to some idiot Republican who claims that he represents the "real" republican party.
No matter how they like to rewrite history, the democrat money folks know exactly why Clinton beat Bush 41, and it wasn't because Bill was a wonderful politician. It was because someone was in the race specifically to hurt Bush over a personal feud and enough Americans were dumb enough to vote third party that the election went to Clinton. Voting third party is always just a way to have plausible deniability while voting democrat. People who don't want the hassle of defending a democrat vote or of defending not voting, can beat their chest, talk about what a pure conservative they are, and still make a solid democrat vote on election day.
JMHO
You're confusing what they actually did with what they will SAY they did.
Fatal confusion.
make medicare a state program. I love to see the tax increases the blue state have to come up to fund this. They drive out all the businesses
“So, the question then becomes: Why were the NY TEA partiers so easily head-faked? Not trying to slam New Yorkers (way too easy); asking a legitimate question.”
Excellent point. I wondered the same thing. If enough people were fooled then they get the government they deserve. Now they are stuck with a rep who will be a 100% 0bama/Pelosi vote. Or if some of them are such purists that they thought the Republican was not conservative enough then they have done the whole movement a great disservice.
So, yeah New Yorkers are pretty freaking stupid.
