Foreign Car-Bashing DNC Chair Owns ... Foreign Car
Wasserman Schultz attacked the GOP for putting US auto industry at risk By Matt Cantor, Newser Staff
Posted May 27, 2011 8:04 AM CDT
The chairwoman of the DNCwho slammed Republican 2012 hopefuls for putting the US auto industry at risk by favoring foreign automakersherself owns a foreign car, the Hill reports. If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars; they would have let the auto industry in America go down the tubes, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said, referencing their opposition to Obama's 2009 bailouts for GM and Chrysler.
But her family owns a 2010 Infiniti FX35 made by Nissan, a Japanese company, Florida motor vehicle records showand its license plate features her initials, leading the Hill to speculate that she's the one driving it. A DNC rep fired back at the news: If Republican opposition researchers are snooping around garages, they should know that if Republicanswho said that we should let the US auto industry go bankrupthad their way, they wouldnt find a single American made car anywhere.

“So, what do you drive?”
I know I wasn’t asked... but I proudly drive an Acura TL. Unlike many of the domestic brands, it was assembled here in the US, Marysville, Ohio, not far from me.
The other advantage is that it doesn’t spend time in the repair shop while I drive a loaner.
Note: Fords are very good, and I likely will buy a Ford in the future. GM? Chrysler? No way, unless it’s an older car, (think: old Corvette).

I think Washington DC is the worst offender.
No, not even close. I'm familiar with the DC area, as I grew up nearby and visit relatives often. The San Francisco/San Jose/Silicon Valley area is the absolute worst. American cars aren't even 10% of the automobiles. American Trucks are fairly common but most of those are Company Vehicles.
I don't know if anyone has done any studies on this, but I'm willing to bet that Conservatives are far more likely to owners of a GM or Ford vehicle than liberals. EVERY liberal I know drives a foreign car. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Never trust a woman with 2 last names. You'd be wrong there. My daughters had/have hyphenated last names. Both highly educated, solid conservative Christian women, always have been. Neither is a bitch. Sometimes people have hyphenated last names for other than stereotypical reasons. We, as conservatives, claim to treat people as individuals, but that's quite the broad brush you've used.

A little off the subject here, but can anyone post the picture of Wasserman-Schpitz getting off Air Force One with Obama...............She’s got thunder thigh/pant suit syndrome like Hillary. Why are Dem women so unattractive, inside and out?

So she drives an Infiniti FX35? If she wasn't a hypocrite she could have bought a Cadillac SRX. The Cadillac is in the same price range (but money isn't an issue for her) and is rated by many as a superior vehicle. It's certainly better looking, at least to my eye. Ford also makes a competitive vehicle. So it's not like 20 years ago, where GM and Ford simply didn't make sports sedans. They make competitive vehicles in every category. At the very least people should look at the American products and test drive them before immediately going to Foreign Vehicles.

“You’d be wrong there.”
No, if you read my post, I’m 100% right. I said “It has been my experience ...”
Are you arguing that you know my experience better than I do? There is an exception that proves every rule. I’m sure your daughters are fine people, but I have yet to meet a woman with a hyphenated last name that I enjoyed their presence.
So, in fact, you are wrong.

Nice car but my boss (the CEO) drives a new Corvette Convertible (among other cars including CTS-V) that's the same color, outperforms the MB in every conceivable category and is in the same price range. Looks are subjective but performance isn't and there's no contest here. It also gets about the same mileage. It's not a car for my lifestyle (or pocketbook) but given the choice, I'd take the Corvette. Still I don't tell people what to drive and at least it's German Car and not a Japanese Car. The Germans are much more fair in their trade policies than the Japanese. If I were going to drive a foreign car, it would be German.

Actually, more and more ‘American’ brand cars are being made in other countries while more ‘foreign’ cars are made here.
The Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata are more American than that icon of Americana, the Ford Crown Victoria. The Accord and Sonata are made in the US, the CV was made in Canada.
