Texas to require photo identification from voters

(Reuters) - Texas Governor Rick Perry on Friday ceremonially signed a bill making Texas the twelfth state to require photo identification from voters.

"Today we take a major step forward in ensuring the integrity of our electoral process in Texas, a major step protecting the most cherished right that we enjoy as a people," Perry, joined by lawmakers who supported the legislation, told reporters.

The measure was one of the Republican governor's "emergency" legislative priorities for the session, and he's not alone. Republicans across the country are pushing such legislation. This year, more than 30 states have considered adding or strengthening voter identification requirements, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Photo ID requirements were signed into law in Wisconsin this week and in South Carolina earlier this month. Kansas also passed a photo ID measure this year that goes into effect January 1.

The requirement is already in place in Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan and South Dakota. Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton on Thursday vetoed a photo identification bill.

In other words, Texas denies illegals and dead people their right to vote!

Every time... EVERY time he starts seeing the next election... he suddenly swings right, and people all over this great state who don’t pay attention except in the months leading up to the election only ever see his faux conservative act.

He IS a RINO.

This makes sense to anyone who doesn't want ILLEGAL aliens to vote.

OMG! That RINO Perry passed this? OMG OMG OMG! I can’t believe it. Seriously, a lot of people in Texas have Perry derangement syndrome. I just don’t see it. You’d think Texas was North Korea the way some people talk and it’s anything but.

I think he’s somewhat conservative and has some ruling class attitudes. And very canny.

It’s about time. It’s funny how you are asked for ID when you write a check, buy alcohol or cigarettes and yet the Demonrats want to complain about ‘discrimination’ in regards to voting. They have no case just like everything and this is a check on the corruption and ACORN tactics.

Just look at the choice of photos they used.. They don’t want to spin the facts at all.. LOL.
I recall hearing about vans, equipped with photo card making equipment, will drive the the voters homes and provide them with a card right there on the spot.. Hardly an inconvenience..

It has worked great in Indiana. Voter fraud has gone way down.....and that will be an advantage to Indiana and republicans.

Have you ever noticed that you NEVER hear democrats complain about voter fraud? You would think it would be a bipartisan issue but the fact that the jackasses are silent on shows that they want voter to win.
