For all his shortcomings, I think conservatives will coalesce around Perry as the irc”stop Romney” candidate.

I really don’t like this guy (he’s my governor)...so I’ll keep posting essentially the same thing:

It’s a bummer. Perry has been very effective in KILLING the more conservative stuff before it gets to his desk, by using surrogates in the state legislature. In fact, he allowed a liberal to run the State House, even though we have a greater-than two to one majority over there...he could have pressed for a more representative leader...but didn’t seem to be interested.

Give the Republican majority in our State House and Senate, we should have turned this state into a right-wing utopia by now...but a certain governor did not really have that as an objective - rather he more wanted to sign a few token token pieces of legislation and be able to say the big stuff (like Arizona-type immigration laws, taking on the unions, taking on Big Education, for example) never made it to his desk...just conveniently died in the legislature...

The way it's going around here with a seemingly never-ending stream of RINO flavors of the week, maybe I should just keep this image on my clip board. Pretty soon there won't be much reason to post much of anything else.

Why do these people keep trying to push Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, et al on us? Rick Perry’s a Tea Party favorite? Pssffffff. No! He tried to jump in to leach on the Tea Party. He’s a RINO.

I have nothing against Perry... he has been one of the strongest advocates for states rights. I wouldn’t walk in a burning building to vote for him, but I would categorize him as “acceptable”.

Perry has FAKED being pro border security for years... but what he has done is mostly smoke and mirrors... Perry has been the PRIMARY advocate for the Trans Texas Ripoff... a highway to hell for Texas land owners and tax payers... plus this was the biggest boondoggle for allowing unregulated Mexican trucks to enter the USA with van loads of illegal aliens... Pretty Boy Perry is a FAKE... pretending to be Tea Party, pro border security WHEN HE IS NONE of those things...

The first thing I think of when I think of Perry is “Forced Vaccinations” The second thing is trans-texas highway or something like that. I saw his picture, he seems to have nice hair. Nobody knows or cares. I also hear he’s hated in Texas.

How many articles get written with “Why (some guy you barely heard of) Will Win as the headline? And then the next week the same guy writes the same story with a different candidate.

Republicans never pick people no one ever heard of.

Are they going to try a new person every week, include him in the poll that week to see how they do? Giuliani just tested high. Why don’t they try Arnold Schwartzeggar? Just for the heck of it.

Can anyone come up with a list of Top Republicans? Republicans that everybody heard of. Not popular ones, but famous ones. It seems like the establishment wants to upgrade Romney. Just come up with some old dude that everybody knows and doesn’t hate. Dan Quayle was Palined </s> a few years back, but he was the VP, people know who he is, and they don’t dislike him. He was considered a Conservative. Lamar Alexander did pretty well in his runs for President. He has a complete resume. Some conservatives would probably object, but, remember, this is the establishment’s choice to replace Romney. To change it from Palin v Romney to Palin v (something more favorable to the establishment). Condi Rice is well known, not hated.
If you’re looking for more Bush plus Black plus Woman, perhaps this would work.

There are a lot of better names than the name of the week parade which this week includes Perry. See how good Giuliani did? The retreads with the name recognition. John Kasich? Steve Forbes? The conservative side is pretty solid, but Pat Buchanan?

James Richard “Rick” Perry

born March 4, 1950 in Paint Creek, TX (Meets the Jus Soli Requirement)

Parents were
Joseph Ray Perry born 1925 in TX
Amelia June Holt born 1928/9 in TX

Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth (Meets the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)

Rick Perry is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN unlike Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama.

brace yourselves for the rhetoric from the Left: “Does America really need another governor from Texas?” It will be the game of “tie all our woes back to Bush” X1000. I am just predicting the other side's strategy against Perry.

I have not thought about the merits of Perry much except that I know he is a good old boy and a statist who sometimes says/does conservative things. But his state, Texas, is a testament to the fact that a tax-friendly/free-market environment is conducive to the generation of wealth and jobs. So a statist Texan is preferable to a statist community organizer from Chicago by way of Hawaii, Indonesia, and maybe Kenya.

Far better that Mutt Romney or Newt. I would rather have George Allen or Fred Thompson, but I could pull the lever for Perry if it comes to that. He could beat Obumbles.

The fact that Perry presided over the largest attempted confiscation (theft by government) of private property in the history of Texas cannot be ignored or swept under the rug for the sake of political expediency. Respect for private property rights is a basic tenet of conservatism. Perry does not have that respect. Personally I just can't get past that. Slick Rick is a world class politician/opportunist, but alas, he is not a conservative.

He had better bring his A game to the debates... for his past will haunt him and his stances on certain issues will be exposed. I say run Perry... but be prepared to defend all that you have done... or not done as the case may be.

Too bad in Texas you do not have to resign to run for another office.
