Vanity: ATF stopped transfer of gun -- store manager says no transfer between states due to new law?

Posted on 05/31/2011 4:10:58 PM PDT by HGSW0904

This is a vanity post, and I'm hoping I put it in the right place...if not, I'm sure y'all will redirect me. (I'm hoping any redirection is kind.)

My husband ordered an R-25 from Dick's months ago (February) and has been playing phone tag with them since. They said they ordered it and that it was on its way. Today, he called again and spoke to the manager since he still hadn't heard anything. The manager said they couldn't transfer any gun from CO (that's where they had one in stock and we're in TN) because the ATF came in and stopped the transfer -- there's some new law and they are not sure how the new law will work. Dick's is shutting down their gun sales because it's too hard to get weapons in -- even in-state transfers. And, because they don't sell handguns, they can't legally sell handgun ammo anymore.

Is this manager full of it, or have you all heard anything about anything like it?

And if you really must go to a chain sporting goods store, try Sportsman’s Warehouse, if you have any in your area. I’ve found them to be superior to Bass Pro, and especially to Dick’s. Don’t have a whole lot of experience with Cabela’s, but for what little I do have, Sportsman’s beats em.

Lost all of mine at Fermilab – needless to say, NEVER put all you guns in front of a particle accelerator.

Boy! was my face red….

you can make 100,000 rounds a day as long as its for yourself for personal use but if you sell any then you are “manufacturing” and you need a FFL.

The last time I went in to our local Dick’s store all they had were shoes and all the tame sporting goods. Their “outdoor” stuff consists mostly of a small selection of camping gear.

I've never been to a "Dick's." What is it? Just bicycles & shoes, right? The libs, they sure do love their bicycles. Saw a "Dick's" at a mall near me, and they seem to have quite a bit of floorspace.

I lost mine in a bizarre gardening accident involving a drummer who chocked to death on vomit.

The most disturbing part of the situation was that it wasn't his vomit.

The tragedy is that the authorities never determined whose vomit was involved. I mean, back then, you couldn't just go in and “dust for vomit.”

“Colorado is now a deep dark blue. With that in mind I am sure the gun grabbers are also in power.”

Neither is true. Colorado has a Republican-majority House, so the Marxists are stymied locally. Also, the Rats saw a net loss of two Colorado U.S. House seats last November.

We also have some of the best gun laws in the nation, including must-issue concealed carry, state preemption of local gun laws, and very liberal laws when it comes to transporting firearms in one’s vehicle.

Also, the State Instacheck folks have long hours and quick response.

All-in-all, this is still a very gun-friendly state, and the Rats seem to have no real appetite to change that right now.

Manager is spouting total bullshit.

I’m a federally licensed firearms dealer in Colorado, and there have been no new federal or state firearms laws passed any time recently, and I have been notified of no new recent regulation changes by the BATF, which they diligently notify me of via periodic newsletter.

That manager is a lying “Dick Head”, which I believe is the brand name of Dick’s store-brand bike helmets.
