Don't Support Palin for 2012 (ZOT!)

Posted on 06/02/2011 12:31:59 PM PDT by Conservative Coulter Fan

I know I’m going to garner a lot of bitter reactions, but I just have to question this devotion to Sarah Palin as our candidate for 2012. Am I the only one that thinks conservatives are falling into the whole cult of personality with regard to Sarah Palin much the same way the Left did with Obama? I’m not comfortable with her just bailing on Alaska, she’s the one that allowed Levi Johnston to knock up her daughter, and I don’t want a reality TV. candidate - I want a serious conservative thinker with the stomach for policy. I’d much rather have Michele Bachmann or Herman Cain. Anyhow, that’s just my opinion. Let the hate begin..

If you’re for another conservative candidate I believe that’s fine and it’s your choice, support them here and elsewhere.

I find it disgusting that some conservatives on this forum feel they have to tear down one conservative candidate to support their own.

she’s the one that allowed Levi Johnston to knock up her daughter,

You mean Sarah was in the room and said “Hey Levi, here is my daughter, go wild and crazy” and she didn’t bail on Alaska, she was forced out..it was either resign or be stuck with 1000 ethics complaints against her, she could no longer do her job. If ANYONE had to deal with the crap she had to deal with everyday you all would have quit your jobs too. NO job is worth that kind of BS

Sarah didn’t bail on Alaska. She resigned to save them money because of all the frivolous lawsuits they were having to spend money to defend. In my opinion, It took more courage to resign than it would to have just allowed them to spend more taxpayer money. As to her “allowing” Levi Johnston to get her daughter pregnant, you are going to find plenty of parents who will take offense at this. One can’t be with their kids 100% of the time and, believe me, no parent wants this to happen to their child. It has happened to people close to me. How they handle it makes a big difference. Too many will insist on, or allow, their daughter to have an abortion. At least Sarah stuck to her beliefs about abortions.

Well, who is your guy or gal?

If I was to guess, they're seriously looking at Herman Cain or Michele Bachmann

I voted for Sarah Palin once, I will vote for her again.

There is nothing mentioned by you that changes that.

Alaska, daughter, TV. Not even close.

The bottom line is most of will not get to opportunity to vote for our person. The way the primaries are set you will have 8 or 9 states that select the front runner and then the rest fall into place. That is how we got stuck with McCain. I will support the Republican nominee no matter who it is!

>>Am I the only one that thinks conservatives are falling into the whole cult of personality with regard to Sarah Palin much the same way the Left did with Obama?<<

I like to say that to the uneducated on the situation, the british bombing of berlin and the german bombing of London looked like the same thing. To those educated on the situation, it was clear that the two were very different events. Same with Sarah vs Urkel. It is not her personality that is so mesmerizing. It is, quite literally, what she says. “Drill baby drill” demonstrates an attitude toward a particular policy, while the wording is the “personality” part. And even that is a good thing beyond personality. That is, we like the content of what she says as well as the attitude with which it is said. We get the feeling that if it had been her that said “read my lips, no new taxes” she would have stuck with it.

>>I’m not comfortable with her just bailing on Alaska...<<

Those that understand what actually happened there understand why what she did was very clearly the best course of action for her state. She did something that hurt her politically, but helped her state.

>>she’s the one that allowed Levi Johnston to knock up her daughter<<

I assume you are just throwing that one in for effect. You can’t be serious. ;)

>>I want a serious conservative thinker with the stomach for policy<<

That is what I see in her. ‘Course, I do have the advantage of having spoken with her one on one and got some personal clarity on how her mind works.

>>I’d much rather have Michele Bachmann or Herman Cain. <<

Cain, yes. Bachmann, not yet.

My two cents.

The comparison to the libs '0bama cult' is way over the top. IMHO, that requires an apology to FReepers.

A fairer comparison would be to the FredHeads (guilty as charged) from '08. I am once-bitten twice-shy after that debacle. I like/love Sarah Palin and would be very excited to vote for her but she's not the only one who can be elected POTUS - Cain, Bachmann, West, DeMint are others.

On the other hand, FReepers who say that Sarah Palin can't be elected POTUS have been sold the Brooklyn Bridge by the LSM. This lady can definitely be the next POTUS.

"allowed"?

You make it sound like she gave her express permission.

At some point, your kids make their own decisions, good or bad. You go on from there.

So much for the 'National Enquirer' level objections.

What about her policy stances do you disagree with, and who would you reccommend?

Just curious. Is there anybody who can oppose Governor Palin without being such a drama queen about it? You people are not being physically martyred over this. You’re not getting hanged, drawn and quartered. You’re not getting burnt at the stake. You’re just being called idiots. Try not to make it more than it is, would you?

She didn’t bail on Alaska but saved it from being dragged down in all the frivolous hater lawsuits. Unfortunate as it was, stepping down was the right thing to do. She may or may not can win but she and Cain are the best the GOP has right now.

I notice you’re still a Coulter fan. Most wrote her off a long time ago even before she laughed at the tea party.

"Free Republic is Palin Country"

Sarah Palin IS this Tea Partier's cup of Tea!! by Jim Robinson.

I've only been registered for a bit over a year and I know better than to tug on the cape of JimRob. And beside, I support future-President Palin 100%. I humbly and respectfully think you ought to get on board.

She's inevitable!

And I can't wait for January 2013 when she leads America back to greatness. It will be wonderful to see Obama slithering away into ash heap of history. May the usurper live a long life in abject humiliation and may he awake for the next 8 years every day with President Palin at the helm of the country he despises.

So do I. So, I think, does Palin. And while I’m not a Romney hater, I sure hope we do better than he. He wants too bad to be president, and doesn’t want enough to bring the US back.

Your comment that Palin “allowed Levi Johnson to knock-up her daughter” undermines the credibility of everything you say. It’s just plain goofy. And why are you a Coulter fan if you dislike people with a flair for publicity?

No you certainly are not. I agree with you. I'm a long time paleo conservative and can trace my beliefs back to the late 1970's when I started reading National Review. There is nothing new Sarah Palin is saying. It's been said before. Now this is not to say I dislike her. I certainly do not dislike her (I have to say this or I will get 10 posts accusing me of trashing her). I actually like her. Is she our best hope for knocking off Obama? I don't think so. But many posters here believe this. Some actually believe she's the best hope for knocking off Obama. Others would not mind losing (yes I actually believe this) so they could feel morally superior by knowing they voted for Palin. Strange but true.

BTW, you are gonna get inundated with responses from your post.

The cult thing is a concern of mine as well. I don’t follow any human being. I may vote for her, but the large group that put her on a God-like pedestal is a huge turn off, though I don’t think she herself has done anything to cause it.
