The silence is deafening. While the rest of the nation is heading back toward a double dip, Washington continues to obsess about future budget deficits. Why?
Republicans dont want to do anything about jobs and wages. Theyre so intent on unseating Obama theyd like the economy to remain in the dumps through Election Day. They also see the lousy economy as an opportunity to sell Americans their big lie that government spending is the culprit and jobs will return if spending is cut and government shrinks.
Democrats, meanwhile, dont want to admit the recovery has stalled. They worry such talk will further undermine consumer confidence or spook the bond market. They dont want to head into the election year sounding downbeat. And they dont think they have the votes for anything that will have much effect before Election Day anyway.
But theres a third reason for Washingtons inaction. Its not being talked about which is itself evidence of the problem.
The unemployed are politically invisible. They dont make major campaign donations. They dont lobby Congress. Theres no National Association of Unemployed People.

Got to that line, looked up to see who the author was and instantly stopped reading.
Reeeeeiiiiiiiisssha, can go suck eggs.
Why even give a stage to this creep? Just the same old line of crap . . . no wonder there’s so many duped people out there listening to the “other side”
Reich couldn’t be objective about anything
Do you think he's jealous of Rep. Weiner?

Get your economics information from Danny Devito — it’s more reliable.
I forgot the Barf Alert.
The Republican cutting will send us into a deflationary depression and the Democrat's printing and spending will send us into an inflationary depression.
Either way, we're doomed.
There's no way back from here.
We've already passed the point of no return.
Prepare now.
The best thing the government can do about jobs and wages is NOTHING! As a matter of fact they are the cause of the loss of jobs and lower wages.
Get the government out of areas the Constitution never cited they could govern and let the free market become free of the EPA, IRS, Homeland Security, etc...
It would not be long that America would regain it’s lost manufacturing power and gain in all standards of living and advancement over countries that have enjoyed less government.
And here you have the reason = treason.
See the hugging and crying, makes you want to vomit all over them!!!
Just wow. His prescription for our economic situation is that the government is TOO SMALL. Figures, I guess.
These ivory tower liberals live in an alternative universe.
“Several steps need to be taken right away. Initiate a new WPA for the long-term unemployed.”
Yep. The quintessential “solution” for government-induced economic failure: a government public-works employment project. And proposed by a quintessential Communist, well at least a quintessential munchkin Communist.
There's the punchline. Republicans hate women.
Rather than try to reduce the number of jobless unmarried mothers, we should reduce the number of unmarried mothers.
Bring back shame, instead of the proud “my baby daddy” we hear in welfare lines (which also have proud women with $300 ghetto weaves).
Almost a true statement. The correct statement is the Republicans can not do anything about jobs and wages.
The Democrats and their friends in the media demonize any attempt by Republicans to bring sanity to our financial crisis.
Sir, the government cannot do anything about jobs, unless you want to declare war on europe and we draft all the illegals. Removing the illegals would open up jobs for real americans. But that is about it. When you have an over supply
Just how full of crap is shorty??
