Most citizens still haven’t gotten their guns back even though the Supreme Court said the grabbings were illegal and the guns had to be returned.
Plus nobody was charged with these crimes. It is a federal criminal offense to violate someone’s rights under color of law.
In a just society the mayor who issued the illegal order and everyone who followed that order should have been arrested and tried in federal court. Those convicted should still be in prison.
Read the Missouri v Holland decision in 1920 and you will see where they are trying to go with this.(Wikipedia)It does say that a treaty cannot supersede the constitution.

AFAIK from those connected, there was some behind-the-scenes heated exchanges amounting to “stop the confiscations or we’ll stop you” from other more Constitutionally-minded departments. Hence, while some confiscations did occur (and still haven’t been resolved), the process came to a sudden halt. Notice that nothing of the kind occurred between Waco and Katrina - some 15 years; I expect we won’t see such confiscations again for about a decade (at which point some idiot forgets the lesson).
I have read surveys on how many guns the government believes are owned by citizens and have always felt they were grossley underestimating the fire power in free hands.
I hope you are right but for the most part, we are just a bunch of guys with guns.

If you were a cop (or the Mayor), would you go to work ... to confiscate your neighbors guns knowing that there was a very good probability that your home would be burnt to the ground when you got home?

A huge uprising would need to have the organization and command/control already in place. Without that I don’t think there will be much of a stir other than words and NRA claiming that it would have been worse without their negotiations.
If it did hit the fan, it’s worth noting that in both Iraq and Afghanistan, guns are not that big of a problem. We can’t seem to handle IEDs too well, though.

This will evolve very quickly to the sort of 'ring of fire' that surrounded the British as they made their way back to Boston from Lexington. In fairly short order, it's going to be a risky proposition to roll your SWAT wagon down the street. We Americans are nothing if not fearless and inventive.

In 1934 we did not have telephones or facebook or email. What happens anywhere in the world today is at your desktop in less than five minutes. In fifteen minutes, you can have I-10, I-20, I-40, and I-80 blocked in both directions. Want to close a major airport, major harbor, major manufacturing plant, no sweat. That all can be done in 30 minutes too.
No, my FRiend there’s a large difference between then and today. Most veterans can tell you how to do any or all of the things I mentioned with a very small team of men and women.
A very small team is a band of terrorists, with limited effectivity in time and space. A major uprising needs a hundred thousand with the will to fight. Small bands and street mobs the government can handle.
Persistent, forceful opposition is another story- ask Mubarak!

You are right nothing to see here all just having a little fun, merely trying to keep the legislature from passing a law, by not allowing them to actually vote, just a few playful guys.......Right.
Alternatively, if someone wanted to send a message/make an example, with
1. Sandbags
2. Self-darkening welder’s helmet
3. Ear protection
4. Chemical weapons protection (gas mask, at a minimum)
5. “Uppers”
6. “Means of self-defense”
one would be an exceptionally tough nut to crack with anything short of a tank or helicopter gunship.
