Margaret Thatcher (they hated Lady Thatcher too Sarah)
Margaret Thatcher Foundation ^ | 1925- | Margaret Thatcher Foundation

Margaret Thatcher's political career has been one of the most remarkable of modern times. Born in October 1925 at Grantham, a small market town in eastern England, she rose to become the first (and for two decades the only) woman to lead a major Western democracy. She won three successive General Elections and served as British Prime Minister for more than eleven years (1979-90), a record unmatched in the twentieth century.

During her term of office she reshaped almost every aspect of British politics, reviving the economy, reforming outdated institutions, and reinvigorating the nation's foreign policy. She challenged and did much to overturn the psychology of decline which had become rooted in Britain since the Second World War, pursuing national recovery with striking energy and determination.

In the process, Margaret Thatcher became one of the founders, with Ronald Reagan, of a school of conservative conviction politics, which has had a powerful and enduring impact on politics in Britain and the United States and earned her a higher international profile than any British politician since Winston Churchill.

By successfully shifting British economic and foreign policy to the right, her governments helped to encourage wider international trends which broadened and deepened during the 1980s and 1990s, as the end of the Cold War, the spread of democracy, and the growth of free markets strengthened political and economic freedom in every continent.

For the last quarter century Margaret Thatcher has been one of the world's most influential and respected political leaders, as well as one of the most controversial, dynamic, and plain-spoken.

For the last quarter century Margaret Thatcher has been one of the world's most influential and respected political leaders, as well as one of the most controversial, dynamic, and plain-spoken.

Google Margaret Thatcher and "hate." The Left is still spewing hate for her. There are message boards where "kids" ask "Why?"

Strong, successful leaders, who do what must be done, are not loved by everyone.

The Left fears Sarah Palin will do what she says needs to be done.

If a woman says you "must NOT have this" or "you MUST spend that," or "why aren't you doing this" or "you could be working harder," it is harder to say they are mean. They sound more like they're being honest and doing it for your own good.

So far the Left has fallen short trying to find the poison-tipped arrow to kill Palin's potential presidential run.

It's interesting to see this "women hate Palin" play out today on Rush.

I challenge women to put up or shut up.

Stop sounding like junior high bitches and name reasons grown-ups can take seriously -- otherwise go get your nails done and leave this election to people who want to save the country. It's too important. If you can't think of your children and grandchildren PLEASE go watch OWN, where you can play at "caring." You are not conservatives if you are so stupid as to hate Sarah Palin because she uses her head and combs her hair and makes it look easy (is that it? She makes it look easy?) -- that she's a natural?

Thatcherism describes the conviction politics, economic and social policy, and political style of the British Conservative politician Margaret Thatcher, who was leader of her party from 1975 to 1990. -- Free markets, financial discipline, firm control over public expenditure, tax cuts, nationalism, 'Victorian values' (of the Samuel Smiles self-help variety), privatisation and a dash of populism.

You can’t tell me (as Rush also says) that Lady Thatcher would call Sarah Palin “nutty.”

Some Margaret Thatcher quotes:

• We want a society where people are free to make choices, to make mistakes, to be generous and compassionate. This is what we mean by a moral society; not a society where the state is responsible for everything, and no one is responsible for the state.

• Economics are the method; the object is to change the soul.

• In politics if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman.

• Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of running a country.

• I’ve got a woman’s ability to stick to a job and get on with it when everyone else walks off and leaves it.

• It may be the cock that crows, but it is the hen that lays the eggs.

• The woman’s mission is not to enhance the masculine spirit, but to express the feminine; hers is not to preserve a man-made world, but to create a human world by the infusion of the feminine element into all of its activities.

• I owe nothing to Women’s Lib.

• The battle for women’s rights has been largely won.

• Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.

• The wisdom of hindsight, so useful to historians and indeed to authors of memoirs, is sadly denied to practicing politicians.

• There is no such thing as Society. There are individual men and women, and there are families.

• As God once said, and I think rightly...

• If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.

• I love argument, I love debate. I don’t expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me, that’s not their job.

• I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.

• If my critics saw me walking over the Thames they would say it was because I couldn’t swim.

• I’m extraordinarily patient provided I get my own way in the end.

• To wear your heart on your sleeve isn’t a very good plan; you should wear it inside, where it functions best.

• Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.

• To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects.

• U-turn if you want to. The lady’s not for turning.

• You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.

• What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose.

• Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. it’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do and you’ve done it.

I am in politics because of the conflict between good and evil, and I believe that in the end good will triumph.

• And what a prize we have to fight for: no less than the chance to banish from our land the dark divisive clouds of Marxist socialism.

AND SHE WAS JUST WARMING UP!

Margaret Thatcher very much reminds me of Sarah Palin; and like Thatcher, Palin will make a very fine President (aka CEO) in America.

She spent her childhood in Grantham, where her father owned two grocery shops.[4] She and her older sister Muriel were raised in the flat above the larger of the two, located near the railway line.[4]

Margaret Thatcher, like Ronald Reagan, and Sarah Palin, came from the lower middle class and knew that thrift, education, and work were the only sources of real wealth. People with inherited wealth, like the Kennedys, Roosevelts, Rockefellers, Bushes, Mitt Romney, etc. do not know this. Who is the closest to Maggie and Ronaldus Magnus today? Probably Sarah Palin.

HEY ELITIST GOP, ESTABLISHMENT TALK RADIO ETC, YOU NEED TO REMEMBER THIS QUOTE INSTEAD OF SUCKING UP TO THE MEDIA, THE LEFT AND THE HOMO AGENDA

• If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing.

Major differences between the two.

Nobody ever accused Margaret of being stunningly attractive.

Also nobody EVER succeeded in making her look stupid or unprepared in an interview. Anybody who tried promptly got his head and balls removed and handed to him.

I really wish Sarah was more like Margaret in the second area.

problem with socialism is that you out of other peoples money

Many of those quotes talk about taking a side and sticking with it unlike the GOP which seem to think they should appease the left, and the queers while trying to be liked by the media.

Look at Pawlenty for example, he was singing cap and trade etc but now he sees no one wants it and now states other popular comments in order to get elected

It is these kind of RINO scumbags which cannot be trusted just like Bush on immigration

.... and in the end Lady Thatcher was undone by Britain's answer to the RINOs. Good lessons all around . Had her policies remained in place, the UK would be one hell of a better place today.

Did you notice that the MSM tried to make anti-Palin hay when Lady Thatcher proved too weak and infirm to see her? The bastards!
