What kind of sane society would even consider forbiding adults from exercising their Constitutional rights on public property?

What are you going to do when you bring your kid to the park and you've got your back turned and your kid takes your gun?

You are going to surrender your firearm to the police right away because you are too incompetent to own a firearm.

I’ll bet this law will cut down on the number of “Amber Alerts” in the state though. Fewer missing and dead kids too! The “bad boys” will take their gig somewhere else to play.

The new law generally prohibits local governments from regulating firearms, 6News' Joanna Massee reported.

The 2nd amendment is new?

Why should I have to take my gun home before I can even drive through a park?

Some mothers said Friday they disapprove of a controversial state law that goes into effect July 1, making it legal to carry guns in Indianapolis city parks and playgrounds, which is currently banned by a city ordinance.

The anti-2nd ammendment crowd is on the strategic defensive right now. What they are attempting is to construct fire-breaks to limit the where & when of CCW. I call it the "Green Eggs & Ham Campaign". Would you like them in a Park? I would not could not... You get the idea.

It's all a delaying action until the tide turns. Probably waiting on events. They had thought the Gabrielle Giffords thing could be such an event, but they were wrong.

Don’t take your guns to town, son. Leave your guns at home, Bill.
Don’t take your guns to town.
You might offend a young mother.

They'll change their minds once a law-abiding citizen puts some hot lead through a maniac while they're sniveling and panicking.

Just sayin'.

"If I was to bring my kid to this park, and I (saw) somebody here with a gun, even if they had a permit and it was on their side, I would still probably leave," Higgs said.

In other words, Ms. Higgs doesn't want the police to be anywhere in the park while she is there with her children, completely defenseless. In case of an attack - by a man or by a rabid pitbull, or a mountain lion - she will be protecting her children by screaming, scratching (unlikely) or running away. Or, perhaps, she plans to fumble with her cell phone, calling 911 when every second counts?

That would be logic not of this world. But I bet she votes and forces her ideas onto the innocent people. This is actually one of several known flaws of democracy - clueless people are allowed to influence policy just because they outnumber the competent people.

Gee ladies have you ever considered that crazy people tend to pick playgrounds and schools as places to shoot to get their names on the frontpage of the news and maybe just maybe if there was a good guy or gal there armed that maybe 99% of the childrn could be saved because of that one good guy/gal?

What those pinheads fail to understand is that other States allow carry in parks and there doesn’t appear to be this mayhem they claim will kill everyone.

"Why would you need a gun slide at the park? You're supposed to come to the park to play with your children," said Eyvonna Hyatt, who has a 3-year-old daughter and a baby on the way. "Kids get shot killed every day with guns slides, because they're playing with guns on slides. What are you going to do when you bring your kid to the park and you've got your back turned and your kid takes your gun falls off the slide?"
