Following a small explosion in an IKEA store in Dresden on Friday evening, the German headquarters of the Swedish home furnishings chain is calling on all branches in the country to be extremely vigilant.
A device exploded in the Dresden store at around 8 pm, police confirmed on Saturday. Two people, aged 32 and 41 years old, suffered possible inner-ear trauma from the blast but there were no other injuries. The blast also damaged the floor and some of the furniture on display in the kitchen department.
No one has admitted to carrying out the attack and there are so far no indications as to who the culprit might be. It was the latest incident targeting IKEA following similar attacks on stores in Belgium, France and the Netherlands in recent weeks.
We dont know if there is a connection, said Sabine Nold, spokeswoman for IKEA Germany. We didnt receive any threats, either at the headquarters or at the affected store.

Nah, probably just some copycats.
Is there anything in islam against fiberboard...?
Maybe someone couldn’t follow the assembly instructions?
IKEA creates
islam destroys
Oh for the love of pete!
While I realize this is a disturbing pattern, we are reporting on possible inner ear trauma?
Our troops are being killed and that barely gets a mention in the papers.
So IKEA is not only a Swedish production business. ...interesting. It’s good furniture with regard to the cheapness of the materials. It also seems strange that any kind of terrorist would attack a particle board shop.
It gives a sense of scale of the boom.
Can't be too many Amish over there so it'd be easy to investigate.
I was thinking it might be some eco-terrorists or something.
Makes sense. IKEA kills trees!
“possibly”
IKEA patrons might whine about cracker balls or the popping of paper bags.
Note to self: muslim extremists hate women, dogs, infidels AND furniture!
Either that, or it’s the Amish International acting up again.
Yeah! That they would.
Anyway, it was the best excuse I could come up with for the newsies on short notice...
Save the Particle Board Trees!!
Could be someone who found out that IKEA stuff can’t be moved to another location.
Assemble once, throw away.
I think it was a group of frustrated Ikea shoppers.....they kept going around around in the store that does not let you leave so they got desperate and tried to bomb their way out of the store......it never occurred to them to cut across the display areas of the store and get off the Ikea path of marathon shopping.....poor souls
Dresden police are seeking a small British Halifax WWII bomber witnessed fleeing the scene.
Floor supervisor: The blast wave has past, and debris has stopped falling. Back to work boys!
I wondered what happened to my old boss...
