I didn’t see the debate, but all day the excerpts were being broadcast on the radio and I kept hearing that “er” “um” “eh” thing. I though it was just background transients in the recording until one of the broadcasters (Rush?) pointed out it was Mr. King.
Is it Tourette’s syndrome? No joke, I really have to ask (and I am sure I am not alone).
I listened to the whole thing on the radio and was thoroughly annoyed at the constant grunting.
The whole debate had the forced rushed pacing of a TV game show, made only worse by the tweaked out spazz King.
Hey Client Nine Network, has John King finished his bath room break? He was grunting all night during the debate!
FNC or CNN?
Did you notice the bar code that CNN splashed on the corner of the screen after the debate, and King mentioned to people to use to get additional information? That's a neat trick to get the younger tech-savvy viewers to deep-dive into your content.
Today's smartphones have barcode scanning capability built into the phones that use the cameras to read the barcodes and look up UPC codes over the internet for comparison shopping.
CNN must have some kind an iPhone/Android app that will let people scan the barcode off of their TV screens using their phones, and then link to additional CNN content from their websites.
I can see FNC doing this. I can see candidates doing this from their TV or print ads. Just scan the barcode for more information.
Very clever.

John King: Idiot or Hack?
I never heard of John King before last eve, and hope to never hear about him again. But, anybody that’s seen him before - does he grunt uhh errr bah normally? Or was it a special performance just for the “debate”?
King Interruptous Spasmodicous.
Was King the guy who was grunting all the time while the candidates were speaking? I wasn’t sure at first is someone was grunting or farting.
Did Politico change the title of the article after you excerpted it? Or did you just make it up?
