Report describes gun agents' 'state of panic' (Gun Walker)

Federal gun agents, concerned about weapons sales to Mexican drug suspects, begged to make arrests but were rebuffed, according to a congressional report on a controversial investigation.

Federal gun agents in Arizona -- convinced that "someone was going to die" when their agency allowed weapons sales to suspected Mexican drug traffickers -- made anguished pleas to be permitted to make arrests but were rebuffed, according to a new congressional report on the controversial law enforcement probe.

Agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told congressional investigators that there was "a state of panic" that the guns used in the shooting of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson in January and two U.S. agents in Mexico a month later might have been sold under the U.S. surveillance operation.

"I used the word anxiety. The term I used amongst my peers is pucker factor," Larry Alt, special agent with ATF's Phoenix field division, told investigators preparing a joint staff report for Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The report will be released Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

Neither of those shootings was ultimately linked to the "Fast and Furious" probe, though two weapons sold to a suspect under surveillance were found at the scene of the fatal shooting of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry near Nogales, Ariz., in December.

Terry's family will be among the key witnesses at an oversight committee hearing Wednesday on the ATF operation, under which the bureau allowed purchases of high-powered weapons in an attempt to track their progress into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. According to the report and numerous interviews with The Times, several ATF agents regarded the operation as dangerous...

Time to subpoena Holder and the head of the ATF.

This needs to get on the front pages immediately.

You mean someone like, say, a Border Patrol Agent? That has happened. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was killed with a gun that was part of this stupid program.

This reminds me of the Okhrana, the Tsar’s secret police. They were the principal source of supply to various revolutionary and anarchic cells towards the end of the Romanov era. All to facilitate ‘undercover’ work . . . which signally failed.

Let us know how that works out for you.
This will be buried so deep, so fast it'll make your head spin.

Holder's a black man in a black regime and no one's touching a brother.

Fox is interviewing an agent right now regarding the murder of Terry. The story is out there for anyone who cares.

I think you are right. No one is going to bother a Brother in this one, but I would hate to be the White Man that they do hang it on-—and eventually they will have to hang it on someone.

It has become too hot to hold. Someone has to hang, but will if be the right someone?
IMO this goes right to the WH.

Holder and obama said they didn’t know anything about this. And the idiots who voted for him and worship him still believe everything they say.

The version of this story on The Hill has one commenter repeatedly claiming “there's no proof any Gunwalker guns were used to kill American agents” and “this policy began under Bush”. He's taking a beating from the other comments, but he's sticking to his lying leftist RAT guns.

The truth of the matter is these agents should have gone to the press as soon as their superiors denied them the right to make arrests.

I don’t think it would do any good to subpoena Holder -

he’d just lie.

You are correct, sorry that I missed this killing of a border patrol agent.

I assume that the next step will be to find out who knew what and did nothing about it to be led away in handcuffs starting with mac, the liar, daddy followed soon by eric, my people, holder.

The white house is infested with people who as corrupt as posible and have no redeeming qualities.

I hope he does. Then he can be prosecuted for that.
