Statement by Governor Jan Brewer - Federal Operation Fast and Furious placed Arizonans at risk
Office of the Governor State of Arizona ^ | June 15, 2011 | Janice K. Brewer

Posted on 06/16/2011 9:27:40 AM PDT by neverdem

"I am outraged by findings in a new Congressional report that alleges federal agents were instructed to stand aside and do nothing as up to 2,000 weapons were illegally purchased in Arizona and resold. In many cases, the end result appears to have been the arming of violent drug cartels south of the border.

"During Operation Fast and Furious in 2010, according to this report, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms were ordered to simply track these „straw buyer‟ weapons sales but not intervene. Longtime federal agents have now testified before Congress that allowing these weapons to leave the premises, a practice generally known as 'gun walking,' was a marked departure from accepted law enforcement practices.

"ATF agents lost track of many of these weapons, including assault weapons and .50 caliber sniper rifles. A significant number undoubtedly found their way to Mexican drug cartels. Tragically, two AK-47s traced back to Operation Fast and Furious later turned up at the crime scene near Rio Rico, Arizona, where Arizona Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered by bandits. Authorities are still looking for the murder weapon.

"If the allegations contained in this Congressional report are accurate, then Operation Fast and Furious endangered the lives of innocent people on both sides of the border. The people of Arizona deserve answers from the Department of Justice and ATF as to how this could have been sanctioned, let alone encouraged. We may never know how many weapons illegally sold as part of this operation later turned up at a crime scene. But the connection between this failed federal operation and the death of Border Patrol Agent Terry is clear. The Congressional report puts it best: 'The death of Border Agent Brian Terry was likely a preventable tragedy.'"

This is getting interesting. I’m praying on my knees that this is the one “oops” that will take down this administration, if the Lord is willing.

And the BATF, or whatever it is calling itself today. Sooner or later, state authorities need to issue warrants for the arrest of rogue federal agents. That will be some fun times indeed.

I am wondering if Obama’s refusal to close the AZ border has anything to do with the operation.

Last I checked we are still a representative Republic. While the tenets of that ethos are holding on tenuously at best, we still have the right and the voice to go to our Congressmen and women and demand swift and immediate action against the executive branch.

Obama is a criminal.

"This is getting interesting."

You aren't kidding. More and more people seem to be piling on this now.

No one would be happier than me to see the whole current corrupt regime get strung up by its collective gonads over this.

Obama is a criminal.

It's now obvious, isn't it? No flunky Attorney General is going to authorize an operation like this, this is Obama's WATERGATE.

The press is going to cover for this scumbag until WE THE PEOPLE put so much pressure on them that they have to do something. We may have to eventually take out the trash in Washington DC ourselves but until then it is going to be very interesting (if we put enough effort into exposing the truth).

If the Reps are smart, they will use this during the campaign to bring this criminal down.

Jan isn’t the brightest bulb in the box is she! She didn’t figure this out when AZ and the feds were going round and round about border ‘security’? Oooookkkk...

The fed govt cares NOTHING for its citizens. OTOH if your a govt agent then the routine is very different. In fact gun walker/fast & furious wouldn’t be on the radar right now if someone in LE hadn’t gotten killed b/c of it. This whole operation was all about manufacturing ‘facts’ to help the cockroaches in Congress make more laws restricting our 2A rights.

You don't get it.

This is not a campaign issue! This is a criminal matter!

150 Mexicans dead from firearms traced to the Fast & Furious program.

2 Americans dead from firearms traced to the Fast & Furious program.

Everybody connected to this must be charged with third degree manslaughter in the US, then possibly extradicted to Mexico to face homocide charges there.

Let us also never forget that all US firearm owners were being framed by this administration for something they were engaging in.

Okay, Governor Brewer, did they break any Arizona laws while doing this? Arrest them and see if Obama will do anything to bail them out. Doubly so for the Mexican government. I would love to see the head of the BATF visit Mexico and then spend the rest of his life in a Mexican jail (after a fair arrest and trial, of course).

The Press needs ( impossible) taken to task. After they claimed that is its their job to view Sarah Palin's E-Mail's.

Well as much as they are against guns isn't it their job to find out about these guns sent to Mexico or are they afraid of what they will find out.

This could be bigger than Watergate.

These days, who can tell the difference between this administration and criminal activity?

Okay, Governor Brewer, did they break any Arizona laws while doing this? Arrest them and see if Obama will do anything to bail them out.

I was just about to write something to that effect, assuming that AZ has a law on the books for accessory to murder.

There are some big differences between this and the aftermath of the Waco massacre. Clinton was popular, while this administration has lost the bounce from killing Osama already. Texas had the rat Ann Richards for governor, while Jan Brewer has another reason to get even - illegal immigration. David Korash and his cult had very little sympathy, even for "the children." The Oklahoma City bombing and the the militia movement were being demonized during the mid 1990s.

I don't see the DOJ pursuing DOJ for any wrongdoing, but I don't see why AZ can't prosecute our feds for this travesty.

I really expect that the final result would be similar to the case against the Ruby Ridge sniper Lon Horiuchi. After the state tries to prosecut it the feds would assert that they have a superior case, and then promptly drop it to bury it.

If this is still a representative Republic, then why was Clinton not removed from office and put away for his crimes?
