Newt Gingrich is demanding an apology from NBC News after it aired a report citing complaints from unnamed former advisers blaming his wife, Callista, for many of the problems that led to his campaign's staff shake-up last week.

"I believe NBC owes Callista an apology, because the fact is my campaign is my campaign," Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News's Greta Van Susteren. "Yes, we make decisions as a couple, but in the end, I take full responsibility. And I think the program this morning was totally irresponsible, and personally reprehensible, and the kind of thing that makes it hard to get decent people to run for public office."

I am in total agreement with you, but at the same time, we have to choose our candidate with the press in mind. By this, I don’t mean foregoing excellent candidates like Palin or Bachmann because the press will take out after them, but the creepy, over-coiffed wife is a negative for a candidate. We cannot just whine about the inequities of the coverage as it won’t change.

If Callista Gingrich scares me, imagine what she will do for non-pubbies.

Newt has been slamming Paul Ryan. Newt/Callista owed $500,000 to Tiffany’s. Both of those are substantive reasons to not vote for him. Teasing about his spooky wife is just icing on the cake.

Not just the “WE”, he uses her name all the time. Callista this, Callista that.......

“I, Newt & Callista Gingrich, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States so help me God.”

Sorry I blew it! see corrected version below

“WE, Newt & Callista Gingrich, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that WE will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of OUR ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States so help US God.”

Once again, this story is a reminder of Newt’s weakness. He is definately led by the zipper, at least this time it is his “wife” and not the next, newest, younger, cuter thing.

Newt Gingrich is demanding an apology from NBC News.....

Regardless of how much someone likes or dislikes Gingrich, it is good to see republicans getting more aggressive with the MSM. Palin has set a good example lately.

Maybe they have FINALLY realized there will be no friendly, or even fair, coverage of a republican in any circumstance. If you will be bashed anyway, why take the abuse in silence? It is time to challenge biased coverage instance by instance. The legacy media has been emulating Pravda for some time now. Candidates should challenge their credibility loud and often.

You are 100% right - Newt brings this on himself with the constant barrage of “Callista and I” blah blah blah. You don’t hear anyone else do that, or not much. I can’t name the spouse of Cain, Bachmann and only know about Todd Palin for reasons of his non political exploits, but even SP rarely answers a question about the campaign or policy with “Todd and I....”

Newt done brung this on hisself....

"When my wife looks at horses to buy, she immediately passes on any one that has eyes like those. She calls it “devil eye” and says horses with eyes like that will get you killed."

Oddly enough, Hillary & Pelosi have the same kind of eyes. I've seen photos of them with that same look. Maybe a FR has some of those photos - I didn't save them.

Careful folks...as I’ve discovered in other threads...

There are many Newt-istas and Calista-nistas out there that will come after you with fork and knife if you badmouth the Gingrichi.

For me...Newt is Naught.

I did not like the way the press and Gingrich handled Ryan’s plan. Presently, I LIKE his plan. He is the only one who had the guts to put forward such a plan. Newt could have communicated his ideas on this one in a much better way. I believe that I already stated that I would not vote for Newt as president.

What he and his wife spend their money on regarding personal items is not germane in this case. Referring to his wife as “spooky” is ad hominem.

Personally, I might not choose the hair color or clothing another woman wears but I will not denigrate her for her choice....especially if she is involved with activities that demonstrate her care for others.

I am still waiting for Newt to apologize to the American people for putting himself in the position to be blackmailed while he was Speaker of the House. His philandering greatly weakened the Republican revolution of the 90’s. Apologize for that Newt!

But, of course, Newt has to constantly practice the name of his current wife, it can be sooo confusing.

Spell check doesn’t catch poor grammar or other careless mistakes. Lol!
