Speak for yourself

I can only speak for myself, but I can also observe that there are now about 20,000 different denominations of Protestants who all believe something than all the others. They pick and choose which Catholic doctrine fits their needs today and go along with that....If they want to marry, divorce, and remarry....well don't let that little thing bother you. If you don't want to believe that the presence of Christ is actually in the Catholic Eucharist, well I guess that's O.K. too. As the revolution (some call it the reformation) took place, people came out of the woodwork thinking that they knew better how to establish a religion than Jesus did....I don't think so, but that's just me speaking for myself!!!!

My concern is less for the Kennedys than for the clerics who gave them cover for their misdeeds. I mean the likes of Drinan, but also bishops like Bernardin. His attacks on Judge Bork were among the most viscious in recent history; his person maorals were a disgrace. Yet there he was. And while any Catholic deserves a funeral mass, the way he was feted by the Church makes one heartsick.

The late Father Neuhaus did not say it loud but he said it clear: since Dallas the bishops have been trying to deflect all blame onto the priests. It has become increasingly clear that over the past forty years, the Church has suffered a catastrophe, and the worst is the undermining of trust in the clergy. The episcopacy is essential to the Constitution of the Church, centering as it does on the Eucharist. Our enemies outside know that the weakness of the Church in the world is the human weakness of our clergy. Which is why they hammer on it, tryingto break the Chain.

Both of our confessionals have doors with “very” big windows on them. Yes indeed it is very dangerous to be a priest these days. The bulls-eye on your back is enormous!

No mess is beyond Jesus’ fixing. Saying the opposite is really saying that humans and/or Satan are/is more powerful than God. Someone from the Old Testament was stricken dead by saying something similar. That’s how serious a statement like this is.

Take heart! Our Lady of America will triumph.

Rejecting God's most precious gift to us, rejecting His perfect sacrifice because other's don't measure up is an affront to God. It's saying that Jesus dying on the Cross wasn't quite good enough, and you'll be needing the pious behavior of people, too. You and I can only control ourselves. At the end of our days, we'll have to explain why it was so important that other people did things before we would worship.

That sincerely makes me heartsick.

Fr. Corapi skated close to the edge and he fell in. That's what he has done his whole life. He's an edgy kind of guy.

Of course he probably isn't guilty. And of course, he should not leave the priesthood, rather he should rusticate himself to a monastic order and continue the case.

Many societies consider the accused more or less guilty as charged until he can prove otherwise. It is a basic tenet of the Code Napoleon, for example. I know nothing of the bishop involved, but I know plenty about other American bishops and they are not what I would call a healthy group. They have been up to their necks in the homo child molestation scandals ... about which they have done really quite little. So when they get a chance to publicly take down a hot dog like Corapi, they certainly will.

Corapi, take your punishment, Stick around somehwere within the church, and work it out. If you were perchance looking for a way out, you found it. And do not, NOT I say, let me catch you setting up some kind of church somewhere. I like my hot dogs broiled.
