Driving across the flatlands of Illinois with Barack Obama during the Senate race of 2004, Kevin Thompson sometimes found himself tutoring the candidate on gay rights.
Mr. Thompson, then a traveling aide, recalls long conversations about topics like the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion that sparked the gay rights movement, gay adoption — Mr. Obama once volunteered that Mr. Thompson and his partner would make “great parents,” Mr. Thompson recalled — and same-sex marriage, which Mr. Obama has in the past opposed.
Mr. Thompson, an Obama supporter, is skeptical about that. “To this day,” he said, “I don’t think Barack Obama has any issue with two people of the same gender getting married.”
Now President Obama says his views on same-sex marriage are “evolving,” and as he runs for re-election he is seeking support from gay donors who want to know where he stands.
This week, he will headline a $1,250-a-plate “Gala with the Gay Community” in Manhattan, his first such event as president; on June 29, he will host a Gay Pride reception at the White House. He is doing so at time when the New York Legislature is considering whether to make same-sex marriage legal — a vote that the president will no doubt be asked about while in New York.
The White House would not comment on whether Mr. Obama was ready to endorse same-sex marriage. But one Democratic strategist close to the White House, speaking only on the condition of anonymity, said some senior advisers “are looking at the tactics of how this might be done if the president chose to do it.”

Obama is desperate for cash. He cannot get enough of it from the black base. He’s turned off the radicals in not being radical enough, plus he’s fighting a war for oil in Libya. He’ll need to raise at least $100 million to prove he’s viable for 2012. So where can he turn to?
The homosexual lobby is powerful, influential and rich. It will be interesting to watch the cross tabs for blacks. They’re adamantly against homosexuality and homosexual marriage. Will elite black pastors switch out for Obama?
Homosexual issues don’t do a thing to assuage the radical base and they’re not going to go along easily. Obama’s in a very tight spot.

Hey, maybe he can give Obamacare waivers to gay couples, and then rescind them! Or, while he's giving his speech at the gay-la with the gah community he can tell them how proud he is of having closed Gitmo, ended all overseas combat and bringing the troops home, mass-naturalized all illegal aliens, brought peace to the Middle East, restored the US reputation abroad, led the country out of recession, fixed the unemployment problems, created energy independence...

The president is making his campaign official slightly earlier than is typical for an incumbent so he can get a jump on fund-raising in a season that’s likely to shatter all records. Obama’s team has been asking campaign bundlers to raise $350,000 each, no easy task since campaign finance laws limit gifts to $2,500 per donor. Two sources tell CNN the campaign team hopes that in total their bundlers will raise $500 million, leaving the campaign to raise another $500 million and amass a record-breaking $1 billion war chest.

In late May, Wash. DC-based investigative journalist Wayne Madsen had a bombshell revelation about Obama’s membership in a Chicago gay club, Man’s Country.
The report added, “WMR spoke to several well-placed sources in Chicago who reported that Jeremiah Wright ran what was essentially a matchmaking service for gay married black professional members of the church, including lawyers and businessmen, particularly those with children. The matchmaking club was called the ‘Down Low Club’ but references to it over the phone and email simply referred to the group with the code phrase ‘DLC.’
