Obama’s Views on Gay Marriage ‘Evolving’
New York Times ^ | June 18, 2011 | SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

Posted on 06/19/2011 5:11:31 AM PDT by lbryce

Driving across the flatlands of Illinois with Barack Obama during the Senate race of 2004, Kevin Thompson sometimes found himself tutoring the candidate on gay rights.

Mr. Thompson, then a traveling aide, recalls long conversations about topics like the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion that sparked the gay rights movement, gay adoption — Mr. Obama once volunteered that Mr. Thompson and his partner would make “great parents,” Mr. Thompson recalled — and same-sex marriage, which Mr. Obama has in the past opposed.

Mr. Thompson, an Obama supporter, is skeptical about that. “To this day,” he said, “I don’t think Barack Obama has any issue with two people of the same gender getting married.”

Now President Obama says his views on same-sex marriage are “evolving,” and as he runs for re-election he is seeking support from gay donors who want to know where he stands.

This week, he will headline a $1,250-a-plate “Gala with the Gay Community” in Manhattan, his first such event as president; on June 29, he will host a Gay Pride reception at the White House. He is doing so at time when the New York Legislature is considering whether to make same-sex marriage legal — a vote that the president will no doubt be asked about while in New York.

The White House would not comment on whether Mr. Obama was ready to endorse same-sex marriage. But one Democratic strategist close to the White House, speaking only on the condition of anonymity, said some senior advisers “are looking at the tactics of how this might be done if the president chose to do it.”

“The DNC and the White House see the gay community as an ATM,” Aravosis wrote in response to Tobias. “Well, the GayTM just ran dry.”

Aravosis also told OpenSecrets Blog that he has personally received e-mail copies of gay rights donors responding to contribution solicitations from Democratic Party leadership committees “basically saying, ‘go to hell.’”

In addition, Aravosis noted that while AMERICAblog helped raise $43,000 for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and Aravosis personally donated $1,000 to the campaign (”more than I’ve ever given to any politician,” he added), he said Obama and many other Democrats should not expect similar support in the future.

“I don’t plan on that again,” Aravosis said, “unless some miracle happens.”

The Don’t Ask, Don’t Give campaign doesn’t explicitly call for a “pause” in donations to all Democrats — just those not fully in support of their key issues. Donations are still encouraged to candidates who back marriage equality, support the employment non-discrimination act and the campaign’s other legislative priorities. And Aravosis admits he is aware of gay rights advocates continuing to financially support individual candidates, “who are actually trying to fulfill their campaign promises.”

Some big names have signed onto the strategy — for instance, David Mixner.

Mixner, as OpenSecrets Blog previously reported, is a prominent gay Democratic fundraiser, who, by the Center’s tally, has donated $98,000 of his own money to Democratic candidates and committees in the last two decades. He’s also reportedly raised another $30 million for candidates and charity organizations across the country. But since cycle he’s only given to a handful of candidates — all Democrats fully supportive of equality for gay Americans.

“No more excuses. Stop it. Close the checkbooks to those who are not fully on our side,” Mixner, who has reportedly raised more than $1 million for openly gay and lesbian candidates, wrote on his blog late last year.

He’ll need to raise at least $100 million to prove he’s viable for 2012.

His announced goal is $1 Billion.

He probably has a young and gay* intern named Mortimer Lewinsky.

*(Of course I mean “gay” in the original sense—you know, lighthearted, carefree and happy—not that there is anything wrong with that other “gay” thing (sarc and barf!).

0bama caught in another lie. The claim is that he didn't read the one page questionaire he signed.

White House’s Pfeiffer Draws Boos at Netroots Nation WSJ Article

MINNEAPOLIS –White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer’s appearance here at the Netroots Nation gathering was expected to be rough. But a chorus of boos from President Barack Obama’s progressive base?

Kaili Joy Gray, an editor for the liberal Daily Kos, asked Mr. Pfeiffer why Mr. Obama said he supported gay marriage on a candidate questionnaire when he ran for Illinois state Senate in 1996 but doesn’t now.

Not so, Mr. Pfeiffer insisted. The questionnaire, he said, was completed by a campaign aide, not Mr. Obama. The boos began.

“So it’s a fake questionnaire?” Ms. Gray asked as the chorus grew louder.

Who does he think he’s fooling? It’s pretty obvious that his “evolving” on this issue is a charade. Have we ever had a president who faked his position on a personal moral belief like this? Obama probably finds some kind of license in Reagan who changed his position on abortion. (I suspect he reads biographies of other presidents to find out what he can get away with.) The difference of course is that Reagan’s change of heart was sincere. I don’t think that matters much to Obama, though. His only concern is that the character he outwardly projects seems plausible to enough people.

This is ridiculous. Obama has always supported gay marriage. He came out against the California law banning gay marriage while claiming that he was “opposed to gay marriage.”

” leaving the campaign to raise another $500 million and amass a record-breaking $1 billion war chest.”

What was the average online donation from the peeps in 2008.....$15. I don’t think people are so enamoured with him this time around.

One is a race, the other is a sexual perversion that God abhors

"Evolving" my eye. Hussein has been pro-homo marriage from the get-go. He said anything to get elected, and tens of millions of fools bought his B.S. Why? Because they badly wanted to buy it.

An actual question from Barry’s ‘Constitutional law’ days:

2003
Part 1. You have just passed the bar in the State of Nirvana. Rather than toil in a large law firm, you decide to open your own practice, and advertise yourself as a general practitioner with a specialty in family law. Last week, two men, Richard and Michael, walked into you office and asked for your help. You learn that they are a monogamous, gay couple who have been living together for the past ten years. Both men are successful architects, and after devoting the past decade on their respective careers, they have now decided that they want to marry and raise children together.

...a handful of recent polls show that Americans, by a slim majority, now support same-sex marriage...

Really? In every state or locality in which the issue has been put to a vote, the result has been NO to same-sex marriage! Wonder if the polls the authoress is citing were done in Manhattan and San Francisco. There are only a few urban neighborhoods around the country where one might expect gay marriage to be popular.

There is more than a social cost on society resulting from gay (male) marriage. There is an additional financial cost to be born by governments and private employers when gay partners of their employees are put on their medical plans. That's because homosexual men will run up larger medical expenses than the general population because of their much greater risk of many illnesses.

This week, [Obama] will headline a $1,250-a-plate "Gala with the Gay Community" in Manhattan...

Wonder if Larry Sinclair will be there to join him.

BTW, did anyone notice that the authoress of this piece was Sheryl GAY Stolberg?

“The homosexual lobby is powerful, influential and rich. It will be interesting to watch the cross tabs for blacks. They’re adamantly against homosexuality and homosexual marriage. Will elite black pastors switch out for Obama?”

Surely you jest? The black vote is pathologically locked to the Democrat party. There is absolutely nothing nefarious enough that Obama could do to cause the needle to move from it's current 90+% commitment to the Dem's...

Exactly! If Black chr*stians were going to break with the Dems over moral issues they'd have done it a long time ago. I now believe that absolutely nothing--not euthanasia, not "gay marriage," not bestiality, not compulsory devil worship in the schools--will shake Black loyalty to the Democrat party.

Black chr*stians simply don't care. Their issues are race and poverty, and that's it. They don't even seem to live in a world where these other issues are discussed. It's still 1954 to them, and Emmet Till hasn't even been buried yet.

There's a tad of a disconnect in what you say, because there were many more black Republicans, percentagewise, back in the 1950s. Nixon got about 30% of the black vote vs. Kennedy in 1960, and probably would have gotten more had candidate Kennedy not helped get Martin Luther King out of jail during the campaign. In fact, King's father was a Republican as was Jackie Robinson.

As an old Abraham Lincoln, Civil War Republican I am well aware of the fact that Blacks used to be Republicans. But that's the point: used to be. They no longer even remember having been Republicans and more to the point, despite their quasi-redneck Fundamentalist worship style (which "multiculturalists" seem to think came from Africa) they have sold out their religious beliefs altogether. The only Black conservatives are middle class or wealthy and aren't particularly religious (Sowell, Williams). The fact is that the Black counterpart of the right wing Bible-banging trailer trash is precisely those poor people who vote as if they had never heard of a G-d at all. And that stinks--the whole situation.

Omao's "Safe Schools" czar Kevin Jennings is leaving his job----no doubt to increase courses in homosexual practices to our youth....but also to make Omao look more palatable to voters. As a going away present, Omao gifted "fisting expert" Jennings with $400M in the 2011 budget ON TOP OF $400M in 2010 budget. Jenning can retire with riches beyond imagination to continue his dirty work with our tax dollars.

=======================================

ANALYSIS 2008 Obama duped Christian voters into voting for him. Now 2012 Obama needs to convince Christians that (A) he’s a lifelong Christian, (B) he is not the most extreme Democrat on social issues, such as abortion, and, (C) he does not support the homosexual agenda.

In 2008, Obama swore he was not for same sex marriage---but he has done everything possible to promote the homo agenda.

Obama appointed czar Kevin Jennings, founder of the pro-homosexual GLSEN organization, "to oversee safe schools" programs. Jennings was involved in the 2000 "Fistgate" scandal in which homosexual adults at a GLSEN youth workshop "guided young teens on how to engage in sexual perversions, including the violent gay practice known as "fisting." THIS YEAR'S OFFICIAL DNC POSTER

"Voters, Obama is baptized in the fire of faith."
"Obama's been saved. Thank you, Jesus."
"Voters, let's hear an Alleluia and an Amen."

===================================

BACKSTORY---CIRCA 2009 A coalition of Christian organizations launched an effort to have him removed, asserting that Kevin Jennings is one of the most vitriolic anti-Christian activists in America. Jennings is known for his prolific use of obscenities to describe Christians. Jenning will apparently advance Obama's anti-Christian homosexual agenda.

The shocking Jennings appointment is another flagrant example of Obama saying one thing and doing another---and flaunting it, as well. Candidate Obama catered to Black Churchgoers who voted for him thinking he would uphold their strong views against same-sex marriage. Obama ran on a platform against same sex marriage and has given the impression that, as president, he will do nothing to advance same sex marriage.

This calculated move served to make Black Churchgoers complacent while giving Obama leeway to advance the homosexualist agenda in many, many ways.

==========================================

OCTOBER 2009 President Obama received a warm welcome at the annual dinner of the homosexual support group Human Rights Campaign, promising to sign hate crimes legislation, to repeal both "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and the "Defense of Marriage Act." and to continue supporting his besieged appointments as "safe schools czar" and head of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

WND revelations about Kevin Jennings, the safe schools czar, and Chai Feldblum, his EEOC nominee, have resulted in criticism in Congress and from group's concerned about past actions and statements.

53 members of Congress demanded that Obama dismiss Jennings following WND disclosures about his past, including an incident in which he counseled a 15-year-old student to keep quiet about being seduced by an older man. WND disclosures that Feldblum proclaimed "gay sex is morally good" have also made her a target for criticism.

"I'm here with a simple message: I'm here with you in that fight," Obama told the homosexual activist group. "For even as we face extraordinary challenges as a nation, we cannot and we will not put aside issues of basic equality. I greatly appreciate the support I've received from many in this room. I also appreciate that many of you don't believe that progress has come fast enough. I want to be honest about that. Because it's important to be honest amongst friends."

Obama made a direct reference to his besieged appointees without naming them. "Nobody in America should be fired because they're gay, despite doing a great job and meeting their responsibilities," he said. "It's not fair, it's not right, we're going to put a stop to it. Read more at wnd.com

Obama’s position has always been the same.

He’s for it. But he doesn’t want to admit it so as not to inflame the electorate.

Blacks in particular don’t care for gay marriage.
