Washington -- California Sen. Dianne Feinstein's popularity has plunged by double digits from her previous re-election ratings, according to a new Field Poll survey, demonstrating the toll that the anemic economy is taking on incumbent Democrats, including President Obama, heading into next year's elections.
Campaigning for a fourth full term, Feinstein enjoys a four-point edge, 43 to 39 percent, among registered California voters asked if they would vote for her - even as a strong majority, 46 to 31 percent, approves of the job she is doing. Eighteen percent of voters have no opinion on whether they'd vote for her, leaving a wide opening among swing voters for a potential challenger.

Well, obviously then, the best choice for the GOP would be to nominate someone as close as possible to Dianne Feinstein, because that’s the only candidate who can win.

The way O’s polls are trending, 46% better be seen as an “overwhelming majority”. Unless, of course, it is Palin.

Yeah, agree. Cali had it chance to implement some pro business acumen when Carly Fiorina ran for gov and Meg Whitman ran for gov. While not exactly conservatives by any stretch the two of them would have been advocates for a more pro business climate for sure....
Strikes me as similar to the Orrin Hatch situation and others: A comfortable incumbent just isn’t what fits now. People want someone not quite so “inside”. I’m not sure what would win in CA, but same-old may not be it.
This will all get clearer in the next six months. Right now it’s not well defined. We know something different is going to happen, and the trick is to get enough good, conservative candidates to run. The pot odds are getting higher.

So the difference 15% is now within the amount of no opinion 18%. Could put that position in play. Not very likely a pickup but quite possibly a force the dems to defend seat.

I understand the frustration of seeing so-called “conservatives” persistently trashing CA and by extension, those of us who reside here.
There were many of us some years back who tried to push back at these a holes, but we were overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of so-called “conservatives” who had nothing but vitriol and snide remarks in response.
As you may have already noted, many “hide” their state by not flying their flag on their page. Says all I need to know.
However, leave the children to their petty and infantile insults if it makes them feel any better.

I am slightly optimistic in that many I’ve talked to in CA are beyond fed up with the antics and shenanigans in Sacramento.
We’ll have to wait and see though. I believe the latest demographics show that CA has tipped into the “takers” favor, but the unions are in damage control mode right now which indicates that they have over played their hands. I’m not running into as many folks who believe the lies told by the unions.
Too many stories coming out with regards to waste, corruption, etc. Not many folks are real tolerant of that.
Meg ran a terrible campaign, started almost a year before the election with her ads. Saturated the market and essentially became white noise in the background. Flip flopped on numerous issues, painted as a failed business executive, etc. The illegal maid was the final nail in her election coffin.
Of course it didn’t help that a number of so-called Republicans were tarred that year as well. Arnie for one, another who was outed as a queer who had taken many anti-queer positions and sold his vote for the tax increases, and on, and on it went.
Republicans didn’t stand a chance with the CAGOP being the enemy within, the unions spending 10’s of millions of $$’s in conjuction with the Rats doing the same.
But the upside now is that the Rats own this mess (the one they created with the help of some RINO’s) since they claimed they could fix it. No Rep to be left standing holding the bag of stink.
Indies number about the same as Rats, Reps are a little lower. If the Indies can be turned to the right a bit, we stand a chance, but the CAGOP is self serving. They won’t stand for it and insist on exclusivity.
