Jon Stewart Under Fire for Herman Cain Race Joke
Fox ^ | 6/23/2011 | Fox Nation

Posted on 06/23/2011 9:33:24 AM PDT by Qbert

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s appeal to many is that he is not like your typical politician and instead more of a straight-talking man of the people, as he likes to say himself. Rarely does Cain shy away from a controversial issue, and now he too is commenting on the Jon Stewart and Chris Wallace showdown, which has particular significance, since he himself was a focal point of that debate.

Cain reminds his audience of a prior statement he made that “no bill is going to be longer than three pages.” Stewart mocked this suggestion as an unrealistic fantasy, to which Cain responded:

“Some of these idiotic reporters thought I was serious. The joke’s on them. The message was short bills. Understandable bills. No it’s not literally going to be three pages. The executive summary will be three pages. But they want to jump all over me -- Jon Stewart.”

Yet the most controversial part of Stewart’s joke was the fact that Stewart imitated Cain using what many considered to be an Amos and Andy type of voice. Cain didn’t comment previously on the incident since he’s be campaigning and only first heard about it yesterday during a phone interview for Sean Hannity’s radio show. Cain told Hannity:

“First of all, if [Stewart] really thinks that I’m serious about a bill only being three pages the joke’s on him. And I said secondly, as far as him mocking me, look I’ve been called every name in the book because I’m a conservative, because I’m black. Sticks and stone may break my bones, words are not going to hurt me.” Read more at Mediaite.com

What we need is someone who is intellectually superior to Jon Stewart (shouldn’t be hard to find) who can do a show mocking HIM. Live by the cheap shot, die by the cheap shot....

Any Conservative on TV would be on the street for that.

I was hoping he was serious, a bill that’s limited to 3 pages in length would prevent a lot of the crap that’s going on right now

Cain’s right to just blow it off. Jon Stewart doesn’t really matter.

Good for Cain calling this loser Jon Leibowitz out for his blatant racism. This canard that he is just a comedian and not a left wing activist is being challenged finally.

Stupid Stuart Leibowitz.

Too dumb to stick to the utter safety and protection of attacking white Christians.

Will there ever be an end to obnoxious Progressives who take such liberties with their fellow citizens who happen not be in agreement with a far-left point of view?

Just asking.

I like it. Have somebody up there who YELLS REALLY LOUD to emphasize a supposed punchline that really isn’t there; have an audience laughing uproariously at every failed joke (a joke which they’ve already heard some variation of a thousand times before)...

Cain's walkback is stupid. "'By saying there will be no bill longer than three pages....' I meant there will be no executive summary more than three pages! Silly!"

"I didn't mean exactly what I said" is one thing. "I didn't say what I said" is cheap.

The first comment is no big deal. Respond "Sure, if we understand clearly what we want to do with a given bill, why can't we define it in three pages, or maybe 30 pages? If it takes 2000 pages, maybe we don't really know what we're trying to do..."

3 pages is an idea. 30 pages is an essay. 300 pages is a novel. 2000 pages is a failure.

Stewart and Colbert have both ‘jumped the shark’.

Their shows are limp and rely on laugh-tracks.

“Jon Stewart doesn’t really matter.”

WRONG...
He DOES matter.

HE’s the PRIMARY news source in America for males under the age of 35, however sad that may be. He’s a part of leadership of ‘popular’ culture.

Call this klown out for the hypocrite he is.

Taking political advise from Jon Sewert is about like letting Lady Gaga lead bible study.

Jon Stewart is just a failed actor trying to cobble together a career. Hey John, see Trump about getting a believable toup.
