“Ammo, sword found with man killed by Tacoma cop”
The Associated Press
GIG HARBOR, Wash.

SNIPPET: “Spokesman Ed Troyer says the semi-automatic gun was loaded with bullets that can pierce body armor. More ammunition was found in the man’s pickup truck along with a sword, pepper spray, an English version of the Quran and book on the rights of non-Muslims in Muslim countries.”

“Man shot by off-duty officer following traffic stop”

SNIPPET: “The sheriff’s investigation confirmed that Papineau had gone to work at 6 p.m. but left early, at 8 p.m., claiming to be sick. Troyer said Papineau smelled of alcohol when he died.

There is no chance that Heilman’s actions could put her at risk of losing her job, he said.

“He came at her with a semi-automatic weapon,” Troyer said. “You don’t want to wait until you get shot to find out whether or not he’s going to shoot you or not.””

“a gun loaded with armor-piercing bullets”

Those are words designed to alarm the soccer-moms. Of course your average rifle round will pierce the average body armor.

“book on the rights of non-Muslims in Muslim countries”

huh? musta been a very short book ;-)

Gonna guess this guy had a CZ 52 with surplus ammo. Steel core 7.62 x 25 will trash a DOJ IIIA rated kevlar. KTW ammo is rare these days on the street. So will guess it was old surplus ammo.

My swag on the matter....

Stay Safe !

Talk about slip-shod reporting!
...pointed a gun loaded with armor-piercing bullets...
What type of gun was it? Was it a rifle or a pistol?
And body armor isn't designed to stop a large variety of rounds so the description of armor-piercing bullets isn't very useful.

And perhaps they need to do a little more research...
Man shot by Tacoma officer did not fire handgun
"We don't believe that he fired any shots, which is a good thing because the ammunition that was in the gun was very high powered and probably would have done a lot of damage if it would have hit the Tacoma officer," says Troyer.
Armor piercing ammunition was found inside Papineau's pickup truck.

Rifle ammunition is "armor piercing".

Brooks Lawrence Papineau
He worked at the US Postal Service for the past 27 years. Brooks will be remembered as an incredibly kind spirit who loved his wife, family, friends and his four-legged children Penny and Rachel. He was passionate about motorcycles, the 4th of July and was an experienced collector of historical weapons over the past 25 years.

Probability is better than then....

The CZechoslovakian Model 52 is the poor mans kevlar punch with regards to handguns

With the surplus steel core ammo combo of course.

Thanks for the ping..

Stay Safe ..

Yep - a gun show dealer showed me a 10mm some years ago and said it would go through both sides of a Kevlar vest with the person inside it.

Shouldn’t there be an anti-cop freeper in this thread claiming that the ammo was planted?

"The officer is on routine paid leave during the investigation."

Seems like a good policy, to me: Any officer who kills an armed Muzzie, who is threatening a police officer with a weapon, gets a paid vacation.

AP bullets?

Perhaps he had a picture of Jesus Malverde at home, and wanted to be able to defend himself from feral SWAT teams.
