ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gay marriage will become legal in New York state after the Republican-led state Senate voted to approve it. Advocates are calling it a historic step as New York stands to become the sixth but by far the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo lobbied hard for the bill and has promised to sign it.

The Senate vote is viewed as a major gain in an effort to allow gay marriage nationally.

Of course the MSM is. I’m just waiting for us to weasel in that Mitt Romney is the GOP front runner and presumptive nominee in that conversation to add to my misery.

Like all legislation their will be holes in it and it wouldn’t suprise me if at somepoint like adoption agencies closing in MA ( Catholic Church ) as to not abide by laws that crossed over their moral convictions, I can see religious marriages not being performed in NY, if their is a loop-hole in this. Call me crazy but look what we have seen in the last 3 years. Oh well, it will be a booming industry in bordering states. Suck to be NY....

Illinois Republicans have more backbone than this — it could be because none of them attempt to run in Crook County.

And I think the shortest verse would also apply:

“Jesus wept”.

Look for many puff pieces in the MSM in the days ahead in celebration of this.

I'll look for a LOT of homosexuals getting infected with HIV in their wanton celebrating tonight. They only need the mildest excuse for debauched behavior.

And the homosexual pride parades will be extra special this year because of the desire to celebrate this history.

Has any culture in history ever recognized homosexual marriage? Until recent years? I was talking to someone who said homosexuality was very open in ancient Rome and ancient Greece. They took issue with me saying that while tolerated, it was not put on the same legal status as male/female marriage.

I always wonder where it will end. Homosexual marriage was inconceivable even less than 20 years ago. It makes you wonder what will be normalized and/or forced through courts in the next 20 years.

In addition to this, though, I wonder about the survival of our culture and society, when we have normalized so many negative behaviors. The “baby mama” culture, the gang culture, the pornography culture, the idiocracy of the entertainment business, etc.

Makes me want to vomit for a number of reasons...

Makes me want to re-evaluate my GOP registration.

Wish there was a viable 3rd alternative...

It seems two elderly northern district NY GOP bags, with their reported “f___ it” attitudes have decided it’s okay to point their collective butt-hole at the constituency.

As a resident of the State of New York, I must say I am sick over this ruling. I am also worried about the exact nature of the religious exemptions. But what upsets me is that the voter in NYS had no say in this matter, and from what I read, that is because unlike California, the voter cannot overturn what the legislature deems as legal. Is there no state in the union that refuses to capitulate to this devilry?

Supposedly the delay in passing the bill was due to last minute negotiations to have strong legal protections for religious organizations not to have to deal with same-sex marriage.

They'll get sued anyway. 0bamacare came with an executive order that supposedly banned the financing of the murder of unborn children but that was sued away. Any "protections" for clergy or religious organizations will similarly be sued away.

Taking names... and waving goodbyes, to those who voted for this, and to respect for reality. They can call it whatever they want. Marriage is what it’s always been and it always remains so. And hopefully we can have the law reflect that again soon.

Legalizing something doesn’t make it morally right.

Often law does reflect a morally proper viewpoint, but when it does not, in this specific case, it is a perversion of what the law is supposed to do.
