ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gay marriage will become legal in New York state after the Republican-led state Senate voted to approve it. Advocates are calling it a historic step as New York stands to become the sixth but by far the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo lobbied hard for the bill and has promised to sign it.

The Senate vote is viewed as a major gain in an effort to allow gay marriage nationally.

Not gonna happen. What’s gonna happen is them trying to lock us in a closet.

One of the handfuls of legislatures to pass such a measure. When the PUBLIC votes, they ALWAYS oppose it.

And just like the Lawrence v. Texas decision, the timing during gay “pride” month is suspicious.

Wish there was a viable 3rd alternative...

Even so, it STILL wouldn't make a difference. The country has gone down the toilet and it aint comin back.

I am TOTALLY convinced that the only way out of all of this B.S. is for another civil war. That's it, period, end of story.

I suggested on a liberal board that the matter should be left to a vote of the people, rather than to politicians. I was attacked with statements about how marriage is not something “sacred” because of the current divorce rates, and that the people should not decide because if that were the case we would still have slavery and women would not be allowed to vote....Yes, the Titanic is sinking..

I have always believed God has a great sense of humor, and that our humor comes from God. If he didn’t get a snikker out of that typo, then I’ve been wrong in my theory, and I’m in big trouble.
That’s as funny as the line from Rowan Atkinson in Four Weddings and a Funeral when he says “...in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spigot”!
God must have a sense of humor, look at the Platypus!

37 states still have in their laws the right of either spouse to annul a marriage for failure to consummate. The reason? Marriage is for procreation, and if a spouse refuses to consummate, they are refusing to attempt at a minimal to fulfill the purpose of marriage.

We should stop playing footsie with these leftist tyrants. 37 states should be enough to pass an Amendment to the USC.

"...respectful, reasoned debate..." Let me know when you craft a reasoned debate you obnoxious dumb-ass.

Disingenuous drivel is not welcomed here. The foundation, context and Written word has long been established,"nothing new is under the sun" Sir Jackwagon.

Nice that you ignored Christ's Words as well, you obnoxious dumb-ass. Christian, right, heterosexual, still up to debate.

38 are needed, after a 2/3 majority vote in both houses of Congress.

For what it’s worth, I’m a Christian heterosexual husband and father who has many gay friends and does not feel threatened by same sex marriage.

If you are a Christian then you should know already what Jesus had to say about gay marriage.

Do you believe that Jesus Christ was the inspiration for the writings of Paul?

Do you believe what Paul wrote in Romans Chapter 1?

No Christian is "threatened" by gay marriage. But a country that sinks into the pit that we are sinking into with these moral imperatives cannot escape the judgment of God.

I'm sure you have a lot of friends who have had abortions. Do you think they will escape the judgment of God?

If you were a Christian, you would be calling upon your friends to repent of their sins and turn from their destructive lifestyle.

If you were really "friends" with these people, you would warn them of the wrath to come and call upon them to turn from their sins and seek after Christ.

Somehow I don't think your idea of Christianity includes any such idea as a healthy Fear of God. I suspect your idea of God is that he just looks the other way when we reject him and that in the end everybody except for those evil fundamentalists will be given a mansion in heaven.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

You may not feel "threatened" by gay marriage, but let me tell you, your gay friends had better feel threatened by it. God is not mocked. Homosexual "marriage" is a mockery of God.

Now that we have “gays” in the military, will the same sex spouses of veterans be given the same pension rights as the heterosexual spouses of veterans?

If you have many gay friends, then you are part of the problem, and not the solution. There is no reason for anyone with any decency to have many gay friends, unless you're just fooling yourself and your own closet hasn't been fully opened yet.

While I don’t support same-sex marriage, this is the way it should be done, by states voting on it.

Ct did the same and I won’t be celebrating acts that make my skin crawl today either. I was cool with the stay out of my bedroom thing but the lavender mafia demands to celebrate their particular disorder is a bridge much too far.
