Via POLITICO's Jennifer Epstein, Michele Bachmann isn't accepting an apology from Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace for asking her yesterday, "Are you a flake?" Continue Reading
ABC News' Jon Karl, who's been getting face-time with Bachmann in Waterloo in advance of her formal campaign announcement, played a clip of the web video in which Wallace said, "I messed up. I'm sorry."
When Karl asked if she accepts the apology, Bachmann brushed aside the question this way: "I think that it's insulting to insinuate that a candidate for president is less than serious."

Pushing illegal-loving Perry, I see. The man couldn’t even share the stage with Palin without throwing a hissy fit. Lovely quality, that.
Wow A rally!
In an election McCain was running away with.
And after months of running for the WH together.
What Bachman camp? This slur by Chris Wallace was sheer discrimination against a Republican woman. The MSM has done this to Sarah Palin since Day 1.
That what GW Bush did. Never fought back, never took on the DC slime machine and its fraudulent news memes.
How did that work out for us?
Try Bachmann's supporters here at FR.
This slur by Chris Wallace was sheer discrimination against a Republican woman.
Like that's anything new? Bachmann needs to be ready for it if she's gonna run for the big enchilada.
The MSM has done this to Sarah Palin since Day 1.
And Palin wasn't ready for it at the time (probably because McCain picked her out of the blue to be the veep candidate, giving her little time to get ready for the media onslaught to come), and now has a huge unfavorables hill to overcome. It can be done, but it does put her at a disadvantage.
Bachmann probably should regroup, fire Ed Rollins, and learn how to prepare for the onslaught. Oh, and figure out every line of attack she will face (she is a politician, after all, and they tend to leave hammers lying around to be used to hit on them), and prepare in advance for the attacks. And learn to smile and take this stuff graciously the way Reagan and Bush did, even as they poke back at the idiots asking the questions.
Exactly right.
There is a middle ground. Bush didn't fight back. Bachmann needs to learn when to fight - and declining an apology isn't the place for that - and especially when you use the very concept that your hired gun has recently used against Palin.
I see the "slander bots for Romney" are still here practicing their SOP for Romney campaigns. Lie-mislead-distort about the opposition but NEVER ever actually tell anyone why they should vote FOR your chosen candidate.
A toast to Chris Wallace...
While the Palin camp will never ever bother to factually and honestly address Bachman on the substance of the issues because they still have their panties in a bunch over Ed Rollins.
You are the exact same coin, just a different side.
Clean up your own act before lecturing anyone else to clean up theirs hypocrite.
How fitting. Wine for your whiiineee...
Goo point — nobody is morally obliged to accept an apology if it is insincere. She should have walked the set right then and there.
First of all, most folks take a dim view of backstabbing. And second, I AM addressing Bachmann on the issues - the issues SHE is failing to address.
You are the exact same coin, just a different side.
Yeah, I am pointing out that Bachmann needs to learn how to hit major-league pitching. You don't like that.
Clean up your own act before lecturing anyone else to clean up theirs hypocrite.
Hey, go ahead and leave your head firmly rammed up your arse. It's your choice. Meanwhile, Bachmann keeps shooting herself in the foot. Maybe you can fool yourself into thinking she's busting some groovy new dance move, but the rest of us aren't fooled.
Personally, I think the proper response to an idiotic question like that would have been:
“Hmmm, you know, Chris, I remember when all of you in the media asked that same question of Obama...oh, wait...never mind. Yes, that’s right, “What was your favorite color” was a much, much more insightful, penetrating question...”
Throw it right back in the Mediot’s face.
What if the final choice is between a Republican you don't like or obama and michelle...Will you vote Republican?
And exactly what does that have to do with Bachmann's performance so far? Tell you what - at the rate Bachmann's going, I won't have to decide if I was going to vote for her (however, the answer is, yes I would definitely vote for anyone but Romney and Huntsman).
And that is why Bachmann should not only accept the apology of Wallace but to publicly show that she has no hard feelings about it whatsoever.
Contrition is not in the democrat nature. Bachmann claims to be a Christian and I believe she is a very devout Christian. But Christians make mistakes and it is a HUGE mistake to refuse to accept an apology (no matter how weak) or to refuse to forgive someone who admits they were WRONG (which Wallace clearly did).
Conservatives should be proud to know that they are held to a higher standard. That is the mark of a Conservative. When we start acting like democrats, we become democrats.
I suspect that Rollins told her to act tough and not to give in to the temptation to be Christ-like. She needs to get her advice from a different source.
” All Bachmann did here was refuse to accept the premise that Wallaces apology was to her. It wasnt, it was to viewers. “
CORRECT!
