Vanity: GOP Needs Rubio on the Ticket in '12. Is He Eligible?
June 29, 2011 | no dems

The GOP needs Marco Rubio on the Ticket in 2012 as VP. If we do not carry Florida and if we do not take some of the Hispanic vote away from Obama nation-wide, he might very well be reelected. We need enough votes to prevent the Chicago Thug-style Politics from stealing the Election. Don't think it can't happen. Remember how the Kennedys stole the 1960 Election from Nixon.

The Question then arises: IS MARCO RUBIO CONSTITUTIONALLY ELIGIBLE? The answer is emphatically YES! So is Bobby Jindal. There are many authorities I could cite but I'll use one to conserve space and prevent boring you.

In "A view of the Constitution of the United States of America" By William Rawle (Page 80) it states: “….every person born within the United States, its territories or districts, whether the parents are citizens or aliens, is a natural born citizen in the sense of The Constitution, and entitled to all the rights and privileges appertaining to that capacity….”

Marco Rubio was born in Miami, FL; Bobby Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, LA. The issue is closed.

No he won’t and he is too smart to try-—he knows he is not the child of two citizen parents and wouldn’t want to stir up another Obama-like eligibility controversy.

Beyond that, Cuba claims him as a dual citizen-—another complication.

Marco is doing a good job as a senator and he is wise enough to know that he should stay there.

I was one of the first people in Tampa to endorse Marco over Suntan Charlie, I’ve been following him for years, and I know what a good American and constitutionalist he is.

What part of “no” isn`t being understood? Rubio has repeatedly said he`s not running for POTUS in 2012.

You bring up valid points, but his answer up until now is still “no.” Pursuing this is pointless.

Clearly, pandering is the answer.

Well, my mama used to say: "A wise man is open to changing his mind, but, a fool never will." Marco is no fool.

He is too young. He needs to be seasoned.

Let him raise hell on the floor of the Senate for a few years and toughen up in the skirmish line. Let him gain strength and allies and contributors.

His day will come, but not in ‘12

Rubio gets it when it comes to government getting out of the way. He has some good ideas on the economy. A Perry/Rubio ticket would slay the dragon once and for all. With Palin as energy secretary we’ll be drill baby drilling in no time.

I don't think Marco Rubio is a viable VP or presidential candidate.

Those who believe he is, erroneously assume that “Hispanics” are a monolithic voting bloc; this is simply not the case.

A Cuban, a Mexican and an Argentine are about as similar as an Irishman, an Englishman and a Scotsman -not a whole lot.

With the exception of Cubans and some Nicaraguans (who fled the Sandinistas) Hispanics tend to overwhelmingly vote Dem.

I don't see Mexicans, Puerto Ricans or any other large non-Cuban Hispanic bloc voting for a Miami Cuban, simply because he is not perceived as one of “them”.

If the two American parent rule doesn’t apply to obama than it shouldn’t apply to Rubio. Let the rats bring it on. If they fight it then obama is immediately proven to have been ineligible.

Wrong. Natural Born requires both parents to be citizens and birth to be under the jurisdiction of the US.

Rubio’s parents were not both US citizens at the time of his birth.

Jindal’s parents were both citizens of India at the time of his birth.

I like both Rubio and Jindal, but neither are eligible to be POTUS due to requirements of the Constitution.

Two wrongs have never made a right and I’m thankful that Rubio realizes that and is staying out of the fray.

John Hoeven will be the VP nominee in my opinion. The lynchpin in this election is not Florida, but the upper Midwest, specifically Minnesota.

John Hoeven will be very helpful in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER INEXPERIENCED CHILD

I am a 100% Rubio supporter - but let the poor kid grow up first before we condemn him to office

Wrong. Natural Born requires both parents to be citizens and birth to be under the jurisdiction of the US.

Bullshit.

Vattel's qualifications for a magical third form of citizenship has never been put into the Constitution or the Federal Code, and has been shot down by the Supreme Court on numerous occassions.

There are two, and only two, forms of citizenship in the United States. One that is established at birth, and one that is established through the naturalization process.

Would you like to see that from a Supreme Court decision?
