When President Obamas guests arrive at the White House on Wednesday for a Gay Pride reception just days after New York became the largest state in the country to make same-sex marriage legal they will no doubt be in a mood to celebrate.
But for their host, who does not endorse same-sex marriage, it could be somewhat awkward.
I think they are trying to share the joy, which is genuine on their part, without changing his position, Hilary Rosen, a prominent Democratic strategist, said of the White House. I dont think he can have it both ways here.
For months, Mr. Obama, who has in the past opposed same-sex marriage, has said his views are evolving. But last weeks vote in Albany has intensified pressure on the president to say where he stands, particularly after remarks he made at a Manhattan fund-raiser disappointed and confused many gay rights advocates, including some of his most ardent supporters.
Some are now comparing Mr. Obama unfavorably with Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, a Democrat who championed the New York bill and helped get it passed in a Republican-controlled Senate.
Others took issue with Mr. Obamas word choice at the Manhattan fund-raiser, where he noted that traditionally marriage has been decided by the states. His critics say that by invoking states rights, the president a former constitutional law professor and son of a black father and a white mother brought up arguments once used to justify laws that would have prevented his own parents from marrying.
That was the argument they made about segregation, Ms. Rosen, who has long been supportive of Mr. Obama, said Tuesday. I dont think people really believe that he believes that. It flies in the face of everything he has stood for.

His usual one.
Oh, he shares their position all right.
LOL!!! Now, that is funny.
LOL. Oh how the boys and gals at the NYT are pining for their idol Barry to hurry up and come out of the closet as a gay marriage supporter, only to be jilted once again. But Barry is so stupid and awkward on this issue that perhaps his remarks really weren't another rejection. They were just "confusing." Kinda like the man or woman who doesn't realize there is no relationship there and keeps reading into what their partner says.
What a fool believes, he sees. And no wise man has the power to reason away what seems to be.
What are the ycoing to do, vote Republican?
Will Larry Sinclair be there?
“...a former constitutional law professor...”
The MSM just refuses to tell the truth!
As I recall from reading years ago, the Dean and tenured Profs at the Univ. of Chicago Law School denied Obama a position as a Professor. The Chancellor of UC then told them to find him an office and Obama became an occasional lecturer in some obscure course that focused on how the US Constitution applied to Blacks.
Obama was never a law professor.
And he was “never” a “natural born citizen” whose allegiance to this Country is unquestionably undivided. One could could also argue that Obama is NOT a true Christian-but at best a rice Christian-or a a Christian of convenience.
Yes he can! He is two faced about everything and the libtard media never notices.
I saw some liberals yesterday decrying the fact that Obama was now invoking “States’ rights” like a “right-wing Republican”. Lol. They are really after him on this.
Fruity sexual deviants invade our White House. What a bunch of crap.
zero is firmly against gay marriage . . . . . . before he is for it . . . . . just after he is against it, again . . . . which occurred before he was for it, again . . . . . which was his position just before he was . . . . .
(you get the idea. New day, new position. Makes it hard to hit a moving target!)
Others took issue with Mr. Obama's word choice at the Manhattan fund-raiser, where he noted that "traditionally marriage has been decided by the states." His critics say that by invoking states' rights, the president -- a former constitutional law professor......who at least purported at that time to be aware of the separation of powers, unlike the writer of this screed.
To whomever he bows it's funny. They and those surrounding them are always seen laughing at him when he does it.
