Birthers Sue Esquire Over Parody, Seeking More than $200 Million

Farah, the CEO of WorldNetDaily.com, and Corsi, author of “Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to Be President,” have filed suit against Hearst, Esquire magazine and writer Mark Warren over a satirical article that they say defamed them and damaged their business interests. They’re seeking compensatory damages of $100 million and punitive damages of $20 million, plus legal costs. [Update: As a commenter points out, that's only for one of the five counts; the full amount sought totals more than $285 million.]

If this thing goes to court, will the plaintiffs be allowed to produce the Obama 17-layer “birth certificate” as evidence, and if so, would they be allowed to have expert witnesses testify under oath as to its authenticity (or lack thereof)?

If it comes down to that I suspect the Obama thugs will intimidate Esquire magazine to settle.

If its satire is there grounds for a suit? If there is what could that mean for all of us? I might be wrong (and if I am I’ll know shortly,) but this sounds like a bad thing.

Kinda difficult to prove damages, I would suspect.

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #2,545 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

The only ground that I can imagine is that Equire's false report the book was being withdrawn hurt sales.

But in fact, it would have the opposite effect. Its being withdrawn makes it forbidden fruit, which in the case of this book is the only conceivable reason to buy it.

Maybe in the follow up? They printed about the 2 being liars, that wasn’t satire and if the BC is a fake wouldn’t proving it in court be required? Wow what if that liberal TP is what gets this issue resolved once and for all. I keep thinking some one on the liberal side will trigger the issue into court to make room for another to run in 2012, something like this may be done to do it in a way that will be blamed on conservatives? O is done and the left knows it. I’m shocked he hasn’t faced impeachment yet to be honest over this or something else.

Larry Klayman is Farah's attorney.

Look for lots of fund-raising, maybe a deposition, but minimal actual litigation.

This is just a Farah/Klayman slush fund drive.

Wonder why Farah chose not to retain the legal talents of Orly Taitz?

Tongue-filled cheek aside...

When Klayman ran Judicial Watch, he was always using Clinton lawsuits to “fundraise”. He created a lot of false hope for people who really believed he could deliver justice to the Clinton Whitehouse. People began to realize he was a much better fundraiser than a litigator.

Orly may be too nutty even for Farah, but Klayman is a perfect match.

Separating birthers from their money has turned out to be a pretty lucrative racket for Joseph Farah. Much better than pterodactyls, anyways.

So if they're suing for $100 million in "compensatory damages" on a small fraction of lost book sales, just how much money are Joseph Farah and Jerome Corsi making from peddling this book?

Yes, Free for Obots, F*ckEye Lexan is even here.

What a huge propaganda swinging buch of beano needing wannabes they are too. They have the intellectual capacity of a box of rocks, characteristic of budding nationalist socialists who couldn't wipe each other while reading the directions on a tissue box.

This is hilarious as they gallop about Free Republic looking like sh*tty assed sheep with bouncey wool knots generously supplied with flatulance born, self libation.

Only one remedy for the lot of them:

Here are the oponions of two Adobe “experts” Both declare Obama’s “long-form” birth certificate fraudulent.

The first is Mara Zebest, a nationally recognized computer expert, who has served as contributing author and technical editor for more than 100 books on Adobe and Microsoft software says the Obama long-form birth-certificate image released by the White House is a fraudulent document created with Adobe software, saying:

“The PDF file released by the White House contains evidence of manipulation suggesting that one or more forgers utilized existing Hawaiian birth certificates to assemble fraudulently for Barack Obama a document the president presented to the world as authentic.”

http://www.wnd.com/files/Obama_LFBC_Report_final_draft.pdf

The second is Gary Poyssick, an early employee of software giant Adobe System Inc., who maintains there is something “fishy” about the Obama long-form birth certificate released by the White House.

“What the White House released is not a simple scan,” Poyssick said. “Something digital came between the paper and the glass.”

Poyssick was at the San Jose-based tech company when it counted no more than 14 employees, and he continues to advise and write on Adobe software products

Poyssick has written more than 50 titles about Adobe software, the printing industry, coding and programming, website development and workflow management.

His initial reaction was to declare the birth certificate an outright forgery.

I would think yes, that Plaintive would be able to have access to what is now a public document. There is no longer any need to lock and hide the certificate. Validating its authenticity would be expected, as the defendants are saying that calling it a fraud is a lie.

It may take time, but this thing will get resolved. His BC is now a part of American History, and will need to be Authenticated after this dust up. Obama should have no qualms about having it authenticated as he stated it is real.
