Was John Lennon a secret Reagan Republican?
Telegraph ^ | June 30th, 2011 | James Delingpole

You know what? I think the answer’s probably no. But why let that get in the way of the delicious schadenfreude I’m feeling right now over the recent claims by his former personal assistant Fred Seaman – and the apparent discomfort it is causing lefties.

-Excerpt-

Over at the leftie Nation, historian Jon Wiener is having a massive sense of humour failure at this outrageous slur on a man probably second only to Che as an icon of international left-wing street credibility.

Most of the Boomers I know didn’t have a moment of clarity until Carter. I was unaware of them voting overwhelmingly for Nixon in ‘72.

Here are some numbers for you.

Nixon won 52% of the 18 to 29 year old vote in 1972.

In 1968 the Democrats won 47% of the (21) to 29 year old vote, in 1972, they won 46% of the 18 to 29 age group, in 1976, after Watergate, and with the weak, moderate (and under suspicion) Ford, against what appeared to be a social conservative Democrat with a strong military back ground, the Democrats picked up 51% of the 18 to 29 year old vote.

In 1980 Democrats got 44% of that age group, 1984-40%, 1988-47%.

It wasn’t until 1992 that the age group became a solid Democrat voter group, George W. did get 46% and 45% though.

The 66% that Obama won, is unprecedented and doesn’t bode well for the future.

I guess that Lennon was very interested in social issues, and the very serious issues of hunger, war, and disease at that time, naturally that led to a political journey as he tried to search for cures.

That journey seems to have gone from the first impulse of throwing money at them, to later seeking deeper, root causes, and solutions.

He is very clear about not being an atheist and that he thought man from monkeys evolution was ridiculous, he also mocked overpopulation and knew that we could sustain many more people with more organization and distribution control, which of course, is a mixed bag of left and right.

'08 was a fluke. I see a lot of grey hair at Tea Party rallies. I don't see anywhere near that level again for him. Even the Jews are walking away.

For a man who was afraid of the “Man”, he ended up donating a lot of cash to the NYPD for vests and equipment. There are more signs that he was not anywhere near the peacenik radical that the left paints him as. The NYPD love the guy back in the day.

That 66% was for the 18-29 year olds of course. In 2012, hopefully the numbers for the young won’t be that bad, but the under 30 vote will still be overwhelmingly Democrat.

The over 45 vote will definitely go Republican again.

I'm a little confused, you know that the over 45 year old vote went for McCain/Palin and against Obama, right?

I see. You were talking about the youngsters as a group over the years, not the same group of people over the years. Well...never mind.

If you only wanted to track the boomers, then here are those numbers.

The very first boomers (ages 21 and 22) voted in 1968, that year the under 30 vote gave democrats 47%, by 1972 boomers filled most of the 18-29 pool and democrats got 46% of that vote, in 1976 democrats got 51% (the 18-29 were all boomers), and in 1980 they got 44% (again, all boomers), and in 1984 democrats won 40% of the (almost all boomer) 18-29 year old vote, in 1988 it was 47% for democrats (almost half boomers), by 1992 the boomers had left the 18-29 year old demographic except for the single years worth of 29 year olds, that signalled the end of the young being conservative.

In 1992, without the boomers (except for the 29 year olds)the 18-29 year old vote went 34% Republican, in 1996 with zero boomers, they went 34% Republican, 2000 46% Republican, 2004 47% Republican, and in 2008, their worst year ever, 32% Republican.

Actually that only tracked the boomers through the 18-29 year old voting, I’ll get around to putting together a tracking of the actual age group through life, but it is kind of difficult.

The boomer age group did go for Nixon in 72 by 6 points over McGovern. And looking at the chart it also appears that with the exception of 1976, the boomer generation has gone for the Republican in every presidential election since.

There are a lot of myths that younger generations have about the boomer generation. Those myths were created by the Hollywood maggots with their fake history about the 60s.

The vast majority of us boomers were hard working family types, not the drug addled hippies Hollywood would have you believe.

Thanks.... cutting thru Utopian clap trap is .... well its a gift..
like seeing this bull squirt correctly...

Imagine..... there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one - John Lennon..

** He’s no Dylan.. or even Professor Wendel Cory..

I completely believe this for the simple fact he was a guy who tried different scenes like one would wear a coat then he would dump it and wanted to have nothing to do with it again. He did that with the Maharishi stuff, found out the guy was an idiot then wrote a hate song “Sexy Sadie”. After he made his most liberal album “Sometime in NYC”, he told Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman they were idiots and went off and lived in the Dakota like a true Capitalist pig, and my father who is a retired NYC cop said he use to donate money every year to the cops for Christmas and once made a big donation so they could buy bullet proof vests (ironic enough). I really think this whole liberal image he has is a result of Yoko who to this day promotes it because it’s most profitable.
