Harvard: July 4th Parades Are Right-Wing (say Dems politicans gains nothing by going)
USNews ^ | Thursday June 30, 2011 | Paul Bedard

Democratic political candidates can skip this weekend's July 4th parades. A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.

"Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation's political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party," said the report from Harvard.

"The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century. Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats.

According to this interpretation, there is a political congruence between the patriotism promoted on Fourth of July and the values associated with the Republican party. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans," write Harvard Kennedy School Assistant Professor David Yanagizawa-Drott and Bocconi University Assistant Professor Andreas Madestam.

Their findings also suggest that Democrats gain nothing from July 4th parades, likely a shocking result for all the Democratic politicians who march in them.

The Democrats have their homosexual “pride parades.” That is their substitute for patriotism. No wonder children become Republicans.

This is true only because the Democrat Party has chosen to adopt fundamentally un-American principles.

In other words, the problem isn't with the Fourth, it's with the Democrats.

If you cannot celebrate your nation, its birth, and its ideals, then you are NOT Patriotic. That is pretty close to the textbook definition. How the Left can even pretend to themselves to love their country is beyond me.

Is there something wrong with celebrating the Declaration of Independence? Is the only valid reason for celebrating July 4th is to get something - some political advantage - out of it?

To fully appreciate how full of cr@p this article really is, you really must go to the link and read it. You can find the entire article here:

The methods are a total and complete joke, as are the conclusions.

And I thought clinical medicine studies were bad!

Why is this a surprise? Republicans love America and Leftists hate it. Most Democrats are leaning far to the Left.

Many are happier with Cuba and Venezuela than with the USA.

The message of this article, unbeknownst to the author, is to make sure you take your kid out to celebrate the 4th in a BIG way or he won't have a country left when he grows up.

What this is saying is that ‘rats get nothing for going to a 4th parade, so they might as well not go.

I had everyone in my group turn their back on the ‘rat from our district (before we kicked him out in 2010) when he walked by in the parade.
