Not really reassuring news, considering his statements regarding our First Amendment and the Koran.

So...Patreus is CIA director and Panetta (ex CIA director) is SecDef?

Does Obama just put names in a hat and cross cabinet positions off on a list?

This is not great news.

On a side note, what is it with squirrels and chipmunks lately? I have never seen so much roadkill in my life and squirrels and chipmunks constitute the bulk of it. What reckless little animals.

If Petraeus has a free hand, this might be a big shot in the arm to the CIA. When general officers move into civilian jobs, they tend to organize things on the efficient military staff model.

Eisenhower did so in the White House, and his administration was a quiet, well oiled machine. It only experienced problems when Ike developed severe medical problems, a heart attack and minor stroke, along with chronic Crohn’s disease.

Most who try to reform the CIA fail, because that is the wrong direction to take. Instead, it would be a better bet to reorganize them for greater efficiency, which brings about voluntary reform in its wake.

Petraeus’ most difficult problem is that the CIA is no longer “the” intelligence agency, because there are now 16 agencies, often with both cross purposes and overlapping purposes.

“Does Obama just put names in a hat and cross cabinet positions off on a list?”

Do you really think, by any stretch of the imagination, that Obama makes these decisions?

A few months or so ago he made some questionable statements (in reference to our First Amendment), about the Koran being burnt as protest here in America.

There was some discussion about it here.

There were other posts, mostly around the time of the second link above - just use ‘Petraeus’ as keyword to search.

Our government is just getting to big. I thought Petraeus becoming CIA director was going to be a good thing. From what some of the other posters are saying, it doesn’t sound all that great.

Put the same names into a hat time and time again and shuffle the hat around a bit and see who is in charge of what. The hat people will deem the necessary departments to have and as long as we don't have the likes of czars running everything we will be okay.

After all, it's the peoples government dictating what needs to be to move forward...

Nope, it’s Soros who makes these decisions.

Soros is a small fry. Petraeus is a member of the CFR and went to the 2009 Bilerberg meeting in Greece.

The same Senate that recognized through legislation as “General Betray-us”.
