Climate change study: More than 300 months since the planets temperature was below average

The world's climate is not only continuing to warm, it is also adding heat-trapping greenhouse gases even faster than in the past, researchers said Tuesday.

Indeed, the global temperature has been warmer than the 20th century average every month for more than 25 years, they said at a teleconference.

"The indicators show unequivocally that the world continues to warm," Thomas R. Karl, director of the National Climatic Data Center, said in releasing the annual State of the Climate report for 2010.

"There is a clear and unmistakable signal from the top of the atmosphere to the depths of the oceans," added Peter Thorne of the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites, North Carolina State University.

Carbon dioxide increased by 2.60 parts per million in the atmosphere in 2010, which is more than the average annual increase seen from 1980-2010, Karl added. Carbon dioxide is the major greenhouse gas accumulating in the air that atmospheric scientists blame for warming the climate.

The warmer conditions are consistent with events such as heat waves and extreme rainfall, Karl said at a teleconference. However, it is more difficult to make a direct connection with things like tornado outbreaks, he said.

"Any single weather event is driven by a number of factors, from local conditions to global climate patterns and trends. Climate change is one of these," he said. "It is very likely that large-scale changes in climate, such as increased moisture in the atmosphere and warming temperatures, have influenced — and will continue to influence — many different types of extreme events, such as heavy rainfall, flooding, heat waves and droughts.

The report, being published by the American Meteorological Society, lists 2010 as tied with 2005 for the warmest year on record, according to studies by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and NASA.

It rained north of you also, up here in the foothills in the mother lode country. Temps are below normal today also. Actually, most of May and June have been below normal, but the climate change idiots continue their mantra of doom.

The “greenhouse effect” has been completely demolished by sound science.

Essentially, the source of heat is without, not within, thus all gasses reflect heat away by orders of magnitude more than they reflect heat inward.

Thing is, on a really long timescale, like aeons - which is really the only timescale that really matters for large systems like the global temperature - the Earth is still colder than the mean temperature. A simple regression to the mean explains the rise in the global mean temperature, something that the global warming cultists have never been able to provide.

A couple of years ago there was story about radiosonde buoys taking temps in the ocean. The temps data sent back showed the oceans were cooling. The models showed they should have warming. So what did the scientists do, they adjusted the buoys to match the computer model rather than adjust the model to match the actual temp data. So much for science.

.
This year has been a killer. - The grass is still growing, and its almost July.

We have been mowing the grass at our place (El 3000’ north of Twain Harte) since april and it is still growing fast. Just maintaining the 100’ clear space around the buildings takes 10 - 12 hours a week this year. In a normal year the grass would have been dead in the first week in May.

Why he bloviates.

Leftists, as we know, have a dual purpose in life. Enslave everybody else and take their money. They don’t care how long it takes.

The following link is to a report presented to Congress in May by an expert panel whose somber warning...

“House leaders can choose to ignore this advice and side with polluters over the public’s health if they like,” said Dan Lashof, director of the Natural Resources Defense Council’s climate center. “But they can’t hide behind a veil of scientific uncertainty if they continue to take this dangerous course.”

...is plainly saying they aren’t going away. Even when the science is UNcertain.

These enviro scams wouldn't be possible if the population weren't so ignorant.

Think about this:
(No thinking)
We don't teach formal logic (The mechanics), fallacies (The mistakes), nor what critical thinking is (How to trouble shoot or test validity). What we call critical thinking in our academia is actually an exercise in group think where all they do is attack the traditional family, gender roles, patriarchal society, Christian values, American exceptionalism and free market concepts. What we teach is "deconstructionism," that's it.

(No morals)
We removed religion from public discourse and replaced it with ethics which in it's nuance meaning is the teaching of right and wrong without using any divine concept. This was done through legislation in 1948 and 1962 which ultimately removed morality from education and replaced it with this man made, relativistic, situationally dependent gibberish that is in reality meaningless, ethics. Ethics devolve to a form of mob ruled by pure hedonistic/utilitarian thought.

(No culture)
The real purpose of teaching the humanities is to convey culture. Ironically today we teach relativism and actually beat into children the idea that making any sort of value judgment is wrong! We teach a revisionist, diverse version of the humanities that leaves out the classics because we try to be contemporary, don't want to offend anyone and ensure all races, religions and geographic regions get equal coverage. So our kids will graduate reading poetry from Maya Angelou (Black woman) and the Story of Pie (Asian) but they won't read Plato's Republic even though they live in a republic. They will learn about meaningless and mediocre artists just because they are female (Artemisia Gentileschi) while masters like Gericult go unmentioned. They won't even mention some art because of it's Christian themes or in the case of Mark Twain the use of a “bad word.” He was only THE most influential writer of his time and actually changed our language, but he's obviously not worth reading....... Beowulf? Nope. Homer? Nope. In fact what the humanities are suppose to teach, the fine art of discerning the value in things, essentially how to discriminate, understanding our own culture and national identity it fails to do in our modern education system. A kid today is unable to see any difference between an Andy Warhol and Botticelli. Even if they saw a difference, they think they would be "wrong" for seeing this and would keep silent.

Kids graduating from American schools are convinced they are smarter than their forefathers because they can operate a game station and surf the web, but they are in reality amoral, uncultured and unable to think unless they are taught this at home. They are easy prey for the Gores and Obama’s out there that fill the empty void of youth with their pseudo religion where evolution is Genesis and Global Warming the Apocalypse, where if you tithe to their green Goddess you get a ticket to their version of heaven. Kids still ask the same questions they always did, where we come from, why, what our purpose is, what right and wrong is....... only today we fill their heads with trash.

Do you notice that there are more of these warming articles in the summertime. Never in the winter. They correspond to the hot weather to make you feel and believe it is getting warmer. All positioned and proffered to surrender your freedom.

Warm is better than cold - stop worrying about it.

It was much warmer than this in the year 1000 but they will not tell you.

Why isn’t Manhattan flooded, as they predicted? No change.

Why did Al Gore by a mansion right on the ocean if the seas are going to rise????

Of course they had to change the bouys.

the Met’s principle research scientist John Mitchell told us: “People underestimate the power of models. Observational evidence is not very useful,” adding, “Our approach is not entirely empirical.”

When the head "scientist" of the British Meterological Office can say this with a straight face, then expect much more than just bouys to be "adjusted".

I’ve heard that one single volcanic eruption will do more harm to this planet than we could possibly do in centuries.

Not just any volcanic eruption, but a really powerful pyroclastic eruption (mainly ash and pumice). Krakatoa and more recently Pinatubo, were good examples. But then again, the eruption in and of itself would be problematic for all the people it could kill.

wonder what the line they will use when it crosses the average? it is getting closer and closer. Trend is down boys!

It need NEVER cross the average! When it's about to, they just go shopping for a time window, the average of which is still lower than the current temp, then THAT becomes the threshold. Kind of like when MADD got the federal BAL lowered, then as soon as it went into effect, cried far and wide about the "increase in drunk driving". (BTW, how's that for a ludicrous phrase: "federal BAL"?)

Is this finding based on the faked data we already know about or faked data we don’t know about?

Yes.

It finally got blisteringly hot here in Phoenix, about 2-3 MONTHS behind schedule! Very mild spring. Hoping it's a harbinger for what fall will be like.
