New Yorkers better get their heckling in fast, because Glenn Beck is headed for the Lone Star State.
The TV host and commentator recently sold his New Canaan, Conn., mansion, to Maura Abeln Smith, recently named general counsel of PepsiCo, for $3.6 million. The listing agent, Lynne Leonard, confirmed Beck was headed to Texas.
"They are going to the Dallas area," Leonard told the Daily News. "They will be renting. It's secure and gated."
Dallas-based real estate blogger Candy Evans reported that Beck is moving into the 7,900-square foot estate owned by baseball player Jorge Piedra and Swarovski heiress Vanessa Piedra. Beck has leased the home, on the market for $3.9 million, for $20,000 a month. According to Evans, the home has been on the market since 2009 and was originally listed for $5.4 million.
What I want to know is why he would leave ANY remnants of his empire in NY? Or maybe he has to wait until some leases or other legal obligations are up before he yanks everything out of that socialist cesspool.
Yep, my thoughts exactly. New York needs a full dose of their liberalism. Any right thinking business that can, should leave that stink hole,
Good for him. Conservatives should move. I don’t understand why in this connected world anyone who considers themselves a conservative would run a corporation from NY or LA. It just doesn’t make sense. You are by proxy feeding millions into the hands of liberals. You are rewarding them with your presence. Let them stand alone and experience the delight of their own policies.
Do you mean Los Angeles or Louisiana?
Galt’s Gulch must actually be in Texas.
Los Angeles of course or any West Coast liberal city.
Good for him, getting away from the violent liberal kooks. He needs this if only for the protection of his family.
What’s the message in his choice of Texas? Obviously, the state’s conservatism and the good economy are part of it. Is this also an indirect show of support for Rick Perry?
I doubt Rick Perry has anything to do with it. The business climate and safety - with safety being first - have to be the issues.
I’m not even a public person and I worry about safety in the coming years. I think what we’ve seen in Greece will continue to spread as the takers are told there is nothing more the government can give to them.
First Rush, now Glenn. NY just lost a buttload of income. Glad to hear it!
Yup, voting with his feet. Bet Texans will treat him better than the folks he’s been around in NYC and CT.
Yup. I would normally take this opportunity to put the sales pitch on good folks to move to Idaho. But being how our formerly-sane governor, Butch Otter, is now doing his best to sell as much land as he can to the Chicoms, I'm thinking I might have to move to Texas myself!
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Wonder when hannity and levin will leave the NE?
Welcome back to the Lone Star State Mr. Beck.
Wherever he lives, I wish Glenn Beck the best.
I just can’t buy off on some of his beliefs, even his style bothers me from time to time, but the man is truly remarkable and this patriot has done great service for our country.
I think Levin lives in Virginia. Hannity is from Long Island so he might stay there since it's home. But I think he has mentioned buying a place in Florida (or maybe already has).
The stupid commmenors on that site must not realize what a hit NT is going to take with another big name leaving. If all he keeps there is an office then that means that all of the employees that work there ow will no longer be paying NYS or city taxes ect which will mean millions in losses.Keep laughing and celebrating dummies it will be you who have to make up the lost revenue.
I feel the exact same way and am worried about that. The day the takers find out that the gravytrain has stopped will trigger a very ugly scene.
Welcome to Texas, Glenn!
Texas, land of no income tax, a shall-issue carry law and the ability to own whatever firearms you want in whatever quantity you can afford - including full autos.
Plus, we Texans are a far friendlier lot that most folks from the northeast (trust me, I’m originally from NJ, so I know the facts), especially for someone like yourself who has conservative/libertarian views.
