Barack Obama has spent a political lifetime profiting from underhanded deals made with one or another fellow incarnation of the devil.
So in 2009, when Obama appointed Ken Melson to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, he once again did what arrogant, would-be dictators do he made a criminally irresponsible deal with a fellow egotist and power hungry usurper.
Melson had spent 12 years as a director of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board, lecturing throughout the nation on the wisdom of giving his organization absolute authority over procedural, ethical and certification requirements governing forensic labs in the United States.
So upon Melsons appointment to the ATF, Obama created the White House Subcommittee on Forensic Science, designating Melson a co-chair with authority over staffing and agenda. Armed with the power and prestige of a supportive President, Melson could now dictate policy to forensics practitioners across the nation.
And in return for this little fringe benefit, Melson had only to manage the ATFs Operation Fast and Furious. And that was quite simple. Just place a few thousand guns in criminal hands, ensure their safe conduct across the Mexican border and keep track of the body count as the weapons appeared at crime scenes throughout two countries.
The purpose: keep Obamas gun-grabbing base happy by manufacturing an outcry for more restrictive gun legislation in the U.S.
But now that Fast and Furious has been exposed and a number of its illegally trafficked rifles linked to the deaths of two American federal agents, the Obama regime needs a fall guy. And Melson is tailor made for

One way or another, they'll get to him.
Dollars to donuts that Melson suffers a ‘heart attack’ ‘stroke’ or ‘vehicle accident’ in the near future.
Neah. He’s just going to have a Hillary-esque brain fart and be unable to remember a darn thing.
I expect evasiveness and possibly taking the 5th. ...Surprise me Melson.
As the head of the ATF, why isn't Melson responsible for Fast and Furious?
One question: I thought that the FIRST thing that ANY presidential appointee does is to submit a signed, UNDATED letter of resignation?
If this is a true assessment of Mr. Melson then I suspect the gentleman will not survive to testify. This administration already has a history of that sort of preventive action.
Major problems when your dupe won’t co-operate.
Anybody know when his testimony before the Congressional Committee will be? And will it be televised? Should be as interesting as the Watergate hearings were.
It’s too late in the game for Melson to have a Ft Marcy Park moment. Even Obama couldn’t get that explained away. Melson will either answer the questions put to him and make a deal with Issa/Grassley or have an “I don’t recall” afternoon. Either way, it’s likely WE—FR and others— will be the only media reporting it.
Easy question because we should all know by now that "Dubya did it".
I’ve been looking for a plausible motive in all of this....either $$$, or maybe an anti-2nd bit of media manipulation are most likely, but even those explanations seem pretty ham-fisted and wierd.
The article says "later this month."
There is too much that could happen in the meantime....
More stuff here at Hot Air.
In retrospect, it looks pretty obvious.
The administration made the claim -- that guns from the U.S. were arming the Mexican cartels -- and then set about creating the evidence to support the claim.
The President, the DOJ and the Secretary of State all made the claim in public -- arguing that increased gun control would be necessary to restrict the traffic.
And, the next thing we know, the DOJ and the ATF are implicated in actually fostering the traffic.
How about that...???
The motive of Gunwalker/Fast and Furious was simple—manufacture an outcry for more restrictive gun regulation due to the number of weapons found to have been involved in crimes across the border and having ORIGINATED in the US! The standard, phony liberal complaint: we need tougher gun legislation because only that will prevent gun crime!!! How nice of the Obama Regime to create the crime in the first place.
