Bob Fulcher stood frozen on Market Square with his arms stretched out like he was waiting for a hug. "I wanted to do it. I wanted to be here and I wanted to be a part of the human furniture that was laid out about the beauty of humanity," the 58-year-old said after participating in a frozen flash mob Friday evening. From a woman taking a sip from her cup to two men in mid-fight with lightsabers, Market Square was taken over by several hundred people who stood frozen for five minutes.

I went out, fired the pistol at the target and went back inside.

Someone VERY close to me did the same thing a couple of years ago. :-)

I didn’t even know it, it was 2:00AM. I live in a residential area. I went out, fired the pistol at the target and went back inside. Next day one target was discovered to be severely wounded.

Is target practice at 2:00AM in a residential area normal for your part of the country?

If I had a business I would rig it with an anti-mob protection system from either an irritant like a mild pepper spray to using ultra loud sounds and high intensity lights.

And if I had a vision and the resouces I would build a store that had an entrance that in less than a second would shut its entry and exit and thus trapping these terrorists for arrest.

Or a date with my backhoe.

The tragedy of the silencer ban is, the flash-rioters start to scatter too soon.

Did any of them preach?

Market square was famous for preachers who had a special style of oratory calling forth the damnation and fire and brimstone in long sentences with a breathtaking pause.

You can still buy suppressors, but they are an NFA item. Some states ban them, but Federal law does not. It "merely" restricts access to them (background check, $200 tax stamp).

My thoughts exactly! 1. The lack of gratitude and awareness of what we have and why we have it and 2. The unfortunate result that ALL will have to suffer for these self-obsessed grown and even VERY grown children. The guy in the article was 58 years old! It seems that they just want people to look at them and marvel at their “cuteness” or “weirdness” as if being “weird” is somehow brave or admirable. (for example the naked bike rides). They simply seem pathetic and desperate. Behavior that was edgy and ok in a college student is not at all adorable in a 30, 40, 50, or 60 year old person who should have outgrown “stunts”.

I’m glad you had enough Spam. I figured those guns were too dangerous anyway and I haven’t thought of getting another at all. I’ll just keep my “This is a Gun Free House” sign up in the front yard and I’ll be OK.

My property line is on prime hunting land. Folks here still have dogs that run around free. Oh the horror of it all.

I have found that not mowing the lawn and leaving a deer carcass in the front yard has a good effect on aspiring burglars.

The one “flash mob” event that was truly amazing was at a Philadelphia mall when they all broke out into “The Hallelujah Chorus”. They called it “a random act of culture”.

I suspect “flash mobs” at the polls may be a large issue on election day Nov 2012 as the Baraqqis attempt to intimidate the opposition.
