BREAKING -- The unemployment rate in June rose to 9.2 percent, the government reported Friday morning, as the economy added just 18,000.

President Obama will speak about the new data in the Rose Garden at 10:35 a.m., the White House says.

The president continues his series interviews with reporters from local stations in battleground states, most of whom will pitch him softballs while getting him on the air in key markets.

Also some hand holding Friday with Nancy Pelosi, who probably feels deeply excluded as the deficit reduction talks have perked along. With some Republicans likely to vote against raising the ceiling once the Republican leaders compromise on taxes, President Obama may need her to deliver Democratic votes.

All he does is lie. We’ve come out of other recessions and depressions and the aftermath of 9/11 faster than this. After all those jobs were lost in the wake of 9/11 the country thought we’d never recover. But we did - and rather quickly. Obama, Pelosi and Reid wanted it their way or the highway — and they got it.
