Religion, Rangel and the Debt Ceiling
by Bree Tracey | July 08, 2011

In what seemed more like a Sunday church service than a Capitol Hill press conference, Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., called out for his fellow lawmakers and all Americans to do "the Lord's work" as a solution to fixing the debt ceiling.

"These are not political questions," Rangel asserted. "These are moral questions."

**SNIP**

While lawmakers from both parties are asking what President Obama is going to do about the debt ceiling, Rangel continues to ask, "what would Jesus do?"

Forgive congress for their sins, but still hold them accountable?

"These are moral questions."

Yes, you tax cheating, race baiting Poverty Pimp. Sticking your hand in my pocket is a moral question. What Jesus would do is irrelevant, what the Constitution compels you to do is all you should worry about.

Or bear false witness, or worship any other "god" ("gub'mint" & "money"), or covet thy neighbors' incomes, ...

Don't know for sure, but as a protected Dem, he probably supports abortion.

Whatever Jesus would do, it certainly wouldn't be what Charlie does.

Jesus fed the 5 thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fish. That is exactly what the Democrats think the government should be able to do!

(thou shalt have no Gods before me)

Solly Charlie, but giving “alms” to the poor was to be done voluntarily (2 Corinthians 9:7) and in private (Matt. 6:2) with God alone the judge of the value of the sacrifice.
Taxes in Jesus’s day finded the lavish ;ifestyles of the rulers (like Charlie’s), the Roman army, and infrastructure.
Not one mite of the taxes paid by Jesus went to aid the poor or the sick.

He might just tell Charlie to sell his Cadillac and his diamond rings and give themoney to the poor.

Didn’t he say that the borrower is slave to the lender? Therefore, if Charlie is implying that we should keep borrowing and spending, Charlie must be advocating SLAVERY!

IF old Charlie had spent his time reading ‘what Jesus said’, he would not now be calling on His name in vain. Religion of ridicule on full display. What he is saying to me is ‘Christians’ turn your other cheek and quite itching about how hard it is to make the bricks.
