(CNSNews.com) – The days of saying “Yes, boss” to the United States are over, Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said at the weekend, in a further sign of the deepening rift between the two countries.
Confirmation Sunday that the Obama administration has suspended $800 million in aid to the Pakistani military came just days after Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen alleged that Pakistani security officials “sanctioned” the recent murder of a Pakistani journalist investigating jihadist infiltration of the military.
Mullen’s remark drew an angry denial from Islamabad, which earlier set up a commission of inquiry into Saleem Shahzad’s death.

Tell Pakistan to f*** themselves and shut off all foreign aid. Pull all our interest out and let India deal with them.

I thought Obama was supposed to make the world love us, with his gift for oratory. Now he’s irking a nuclear power within an unstable region. I smell a sale to Iran or Yemen coming up.
We're too stupid to use that leverage against us. We could easily arm India to the point that Pakistan would be outmatched. Or, we could just pull the plug and let the area resettle to normal levels. Pakistan won't be able to maintain their military without us.
Afghanistan is the key. If we need to be there, we need to endure whatever abuse Pakistan throws at us to keep the supply route open. If we don't need to be there, we can pull out and leave Pakistan to the wolves. Until we make that decision, we're stuck pumping billions into them and getting slapped in the face for it.

It lasted less than two weeks. The Pakistan army involved in the fight outnumbered the Indian Army and Bengali rebels by a ratio of about 2.4 to 1. When it was over, about 1500 Indian and rebel soldiers were dead compared to over 8000 Pakis. Bangladesh was independent.
Remember, this was only 23 years after the partition of Pakistan and India when the countries were pretty evenly matched. In the 40 years since, India has made great advances and Pakistan has become even a worse third world sh*thole than it was then.
Do the math and tell me how long Pakistan would last in a similar one on one match today.
To make matters much worse for the Pakis, since the mutual development of nukes, India has gone all-out to develop anti-missile missiles, with an eye to blasting anything Pakistan fires at India out of the air.

Having been aggressively attacked by Pakistan 3 times officially and 1 undeclared now, the Indians have no illusions about Pakistani intentions. It is a good question though, if Pakistan were even to ineffectively attack India with nuclear missiles, if India would say “to hell with them”, and sterilize their entire country, thus ending their belligerence for good.
For their part, in no way being able to match India’s anti-missile development, Pakistan has been trying to play footsie with both the US and China, the old Cold War game. Now, since the US seems to be bowing out of *that* game, they will probably run into the arms of China. But the Chinese, being no dummies, won’t stick their neck out for the Pakis, with anything remotely like a mutual defense treaty.
So the Pakis will probably turn their wrath on Afghanistan, redoubling their support for the bad guys and drug gangs.
Pakistan is a third world sh*thole, bar none, but as military strength goes, they're punching above their weight. They've got a decent armored and aviation setup, and their ISR is pretty competitive. India's more or less matched on those ends, but their massive advantage in infantry power, naval power and logistics would grind Pakistan down.
After a week or two of heavy fighting, Pakistan's advantages would be spent, and they'd start giving ground. Once the armored corps is broken, Indian dismounted reinforcements would flood the border. Then it would turn into a rout for Pakistan and steady march on Islamabad. Somewhere between the loss of the border and the approach of Indian troops around the halfway mark to Islamabad, someone in the Pak military would go hot with their nuclear arsenal. Allegedly, the U.S. helped implement safeguards against this, but no doubt those would be thrown out the window in the first 5 minutes of conflict.
This is assuming that the Pakistanis didn't go nuclear preemptively, of course. There are strong arguments within their military for them to want to go nuclear early. Not the least of which are the loss of capability to U.S. interference or India disabling their launch platforms.
Assuming it didn't go nuclear, for some deus ex machina reason, India's greater industrial, social and technological base would overpower Pakistan in any contest that ran over a month. No question.
I wouldn't draw the concision too far, but North Korea and South Korea have some similarities in that respect. The DPRK and Pakistan have very strong opening hands, but it goes downhill fast after the two week mark. Even a first round knockout isn't really in the cards. It's more of a deterrent against rational enemies like India or South Korea, a point that the leaders of the opposing countries all realize. Of course, lots of wars have started based off of miscalculation.
They said 'yes' to Osama too - and Hamas - and anyone else they could shake down. Do we need them? Hell no. Pull out, take our weapons with us and their nukes. They're nothing but trouble.
At this point, China has more or less backed off. They've ensured that their rival, India, has a major threat to contend with on their border. They don't need to keep their hands in that pot anymore. Pakistan's as dangerous as they're going to get.
There's a number of delivery methods for nuclear weapons, especially if you're open to a sneak attack. I wouldn't pin too much hope on counter-missile systems just yet. It's a smart development, but no magic shield.
As far as sterilizing the country, Pakistan is about five nuclear weapon strikes from being reduced to a bronze age status. Take out the major population centers, and the country will disintegrate. Why spend expensive nuclear weapons to make the rubble bounce?

American taxpayers 'committed' to give? Someone thinks we were born yesterday. Some liberal elite committed to 'give'... sure as hell wasn't me. Or you, smaug. In answer to your question, I think they sell themselves to the highest bidder of the moment... They'll say or do whatever it takes to prime the money pump - if that means giving the illusion they'll lie less often - then so be it - it's what we want to hear - they'll say it... I'm sure they've offered the same deal to Al Qaeda, the Iranians and anyone else they're dealing with - "we'll lie less to YOU... and only you". They'll respect us in the morning...
