ATF Florida Gun Probe Earns Congressional Scrutiny in Wake of 'Fast and Furious'

Several lawmakers are questioning the Obama administration about whether the controversial "Fast and Furious" gunrunning probe may have had a cousin in Florida that resulted in guns being trafficked to Central America.

Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., penned a letter Tuesday to Attorney General Eric Holder and ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson inquiring about a program known as "Operation Castaway." Other top lawmakers are also starting to look into it, though ATF claims the program was above board and not similar to Operation Fast and Furious at all.

Finished cocaine is bought by Mexies for $3,000 per key, while unprocessed BASE is just $1,000. How might Mexies TRIPLE their profits with about the same risk? A bit like the oil industry; by moving upstream and also owning the mechanism for processing cocaine base in central America.

Docs related to F&F and Castaway show an interesting confluence of Mexy narco financial interests with Obama political interests:

Mexicans wanted a Honduran operating environment permitting for their own cocaine processing there, further south to the source of the product. This would permit Mexicans to bypass middlemen, collecting the profits these others had enjoyed to that point.

Meanwhile, via arms sales to these dangerous Mexican criminals, Obama would win its own new friends in Central America. As a topper, in the process he would also end up disallowing easy gun sales to law-abiding Americans —call it the Chicago-ization of the whole USA.

So far, this Obama op has killed 152 people, 2 of them badged US officers.

Note that more and more docs uncovered refer to “DEA, ATF **AND OTHER AGENCIES” —so this imbroglio clearly had SECRET FOREIGN POLICY OBJECTIVES.

—>THIS IS IRAN-CONTRA ALL OVER AGAIN<— Except, of course, that Americans would be killed, instead of rescued.

HOPEY CHANGEY..!!

THIS STORY IS COMPLETELY HUGE. Good on Sipsey Street Irregulars..!

The BATF has never been the friend of Real America, but the eagerness of the Hussein Admin to throw them under the bus indicates that the current (upwards) direction of the investigation has been fruitful —the big-eared goal-line is coming into clear view.

When people read of these ready and cogent DOJ denials they have to remember that they have access to a dynamic file updated in real-time indicating which documents are being disclosed to investigators.

So when questioned, they have LOTS of time to re-structure their “memories” to account for which docs they know investigators are operating off of.

It is a CRIME that this dynamic file exists or that it ever HAS existed, even for a short time.

It’s WITNESS TAMPERING.

The Lawlessness exhibited by F&F/Castaway is BEYOND the Nixon DOJ —it’s the biggest, most sordid scandal I’ve EVER seen. It’s deeep into Michael Moore territory, which is fantastic.

I wonder if Project Castaway guns were used to kill Argentine singer Facundo Cabral last week in Guatemala?

Facundo Cabral, celebrated Argentine folk singer, is killed

Mr. Cabral, who had given a concert two days earlier in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, was en route to the Guatemala City airport when his vehicle was hit by a hail of bullets in an orchestrated attack involving three carloads of gunmen, the Associated Press reported.

Where did "three carloads of gunmen" get guns in Guatemala? Do they have a thriving arms black market in that small country?

So, Eric really is just a fan of the Space Program?

Or was he really there to kick off "Project Moonwalker?"

Those donks, they are just so clever! We would NEVER suspect he was there to coach Virginia O’Brien, Special Agent in Charge at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Tampa, FL Field Division, who was operating a gun-running investigation that was walking guns to Honduras using the techniques and tactics identical to Fast and Furious.

Nope. Never would have guessed that!

From the article,

............."Bilirakis apparently was alerted to Castaway by news reports, as well as calls received by his office. An article on Examiner.com initially claimed the Tampa division was "walking guns" to Honduras in a way similar to Fast and Furious.

Bilirakis spokesman Creighton Welch said his boss saw the report, but also received "several calls from folks who I guess you could say were familiar with the situation in Tampa. He declined to go into further detail about where the tips were coming from. "..............

Interesting.

Is there any doubt that if Bush had done this, it would have been the number 1 story on every channel and newspaper for the last two months?

They'd have to walk a fine line. Federal bureaucracies seem to be one of the protected groups that can do no wrong.

Gunwalker: Smoking Gun Email?

An internal ATF email seems to support the assertion that Fast and Furious was a PR stunt for gun control.

The BAFT has always been the enabler for Communist, leftist, and anti-freedom controlling government types.

Bush in 8 years, made American citizenship all but pointless, with millions pouring over the borders during that period...During war time no less.

You'll notice the media paid little attention to that too.

Sorry but I cannot help but believe that at the core we will find drug running by the government and the administration in exchange for political contributions.

It's the money that matter to politicians. especially corrupt, power-tripping democrats.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.
