Sarah Palin Movie Debuts to Empty Theater in Orange County (Barf alert)
The Atlantic ^ | Friday, July 15, 2011 | Conor Friedersdorf

Posted on 07/15/2011 10:04:49 AM PDT by kristinn

When the clock struck 12:01 am today, AMC theaters in select cities were permitted to start showing "The Undefeated," a feature length documentary about Sarah Palin. As it happens, I'm visiting my parents in Orange County, Calif., home to one of just 10 theaters where the film is being rolled out. Watching it didn't interest me so much as going to interview folks who decided to attend. I figured I'd meet some nice people, perhaps run into someone who knows my grandparents, press five or six Palin fans on why they like her, and convey their worldview. It's my experience that the grassroots doesn't fit the caricature of its champions or its detractors.

SNIP

As I approached, however, I realized that most people present were dressed in costume. The crowd was either showing ironic solidarity with Christine O'Donnell, the tea party candidate who is not a witch, or else everyone was there to see the Harry Potter movie playing on a majority of the theater's 30 screens. Without any way of telling Palin moviegoers from Potter fans dressed up like muggles, I'd have to pay, go to the assigned theater, and look for interviewees.

I hurried through the teenage hordes, bypassed a concession stand that sold 1,020 calories of soda for $5.25, and entered theater number 30, hoping I'd have ample time before the previews to talk to some people. But inside, the theater was empty. I sat there alone for 20 minutes, at which point an usher stuck his head in the door, gave me a quizzical smile, and said, "How come you're not watching Harry Potter?" Then he left me by myself again, and without any good answer.

Also, they’re showing the movie at The Block. Most people around there know it’s not exactly the safest area at night, let alone midnight.

No one has been watching this closer than me, and I had no idea that The Undefeated would be screened at midnight. (No, I wouldn’t have gone even if I had known.) The funniest aspect of this is that the reporter is/was so clueless that he thought it would be meaningful to do interviews at 3am. What a maroon.

AM or PM, we were working...and, likely the theatre didn’t tell anyone they were carrying it as they were too embarassed to their lefty friends to let them know they were carrying the movie. Just like abortion, it’s just another political tool to use for their convenience.

Got my Ticket last night. If I end up by myself then I guess I will still enjoy the extra leg room. Somehow I doubt that will be the case!

Shortly before the end of the film, a young couple entered, walked to the back row, started making out, then interrupted their session and left (spoiler alert) as Andrew Breitbart, who made one of several guest appearances, started talking about eunuchs.

Well that is a bit off the track of what The Undefeated supposedly contains. Not having seen it because we actually have sober theater operators here in Dallas and Today is a work day for me I will not know until later what Andrew Breitbart, who made one of several guest appearances, started talking about eunuchs is, actually.

And of course, I checked the author of the bit, No surprises at all.

I was at the Block of Orange buying tickets for tonight. I don’t think most people were aware that you could see it at 12:01 this morning. Even still, I think most Palin supporters work for a living and have to work on friday.

this has to be satire

I know I should not prejudge but I am always skeptical of writers with names like Conor Friedersdorf.

This may not be "satire" but the purpose is the same.. to damage former governor of Alaska Palin.

A couple of examples.

"Why the strange silence, Mr. President?" Palin

Recently a Salon employee published some "satire" about Gov. Palin and other conservatives.

You may be aware that Esquire published some "satire" about the status of Dr. Jerome Corsi's latest book.

It is no accident that the satire (read lies) appeared in publishing entities generally associated with reporting.

That way the "satire" can go viral. The rightwing will note the "satire" but the left will spread the lies as fact.

Some argue what's the big deal? It's satire! Are you too dumb to understand that? Are you trying to suppress free speech and our great tradtion of satire?

I said no. I am not trying to suppress anything.

The lie about former Gov. Palin included the the phony quote: "Why the strange silence, Mr. President?"

A google search for, "Why the strange silence, Mr. President?" Palin, got 175 hits three days ago.

Today google returned 1,350 hits.

That is why the left puts their "satire" in sources generally associated with news.

I’ve only heard that the movie was being released on Friday (today).

Actually 12:01 AM is today, Friday.

Don’t believe anything that comes out of this little liars mouth...

http://bigjournalism.com/files/2010/07/Friedersdorf_Conor.jpg

A poorly-trained NYU journalist, not long out of grad school and an incredibly weak writer, suddenly Friedersdorf is an expert on International law. But that’s not all. He’s also an expert on Honor Killings and all things Islamic. While attacking Mark Steyn, we get this from Friedersdorf. Yes, conservatives are the “media elite” in Conor’s dimly lit reading room and even more dim bulb of a mind. And if one doesn’t agree with him, he joins with the Left, feeding into the nonsense about alleged “epistemic closure,” because conservatives don’t embrace his progressive, Leftist view. Oh, wait, he’s The Atlantic’s latest false-flag conservative useful idiot. I plum forgot. Why don’t conservatives love Conor Friedersdorf?

According to Conor, Rush Limbaugh is a double-talking mendacious hack, a race-baiter, who obsessively trades on race. According to Conor, Rush is a “millionaire race agitator” he holds in contempt – for his dishonesty and hypocrisy. Why don’t conservatives love false-flag conservative Conor Friedersdorf on the Right?

Yeah, he’s way bigger than, say, Mark Levin, this year’s top-selling conservative author. To Friedersdorf, that guy Levin’s a liar who misleads you common folks. Conor says he is harmful, among any other number of sins. But Conor is a real bad-ass in one woefully misguided blogger’s view — because he’s not afwaid to wage an all out Twitter campaign against his latest compulsion, stalking Mark Levin.

Conor Friedersdorf is my minor internet hero. I found his recent twitter campaign to persuade fans of talk radio blowhard Mark Levin that Levin should not be trusted to be somehow badass. Is this not the ballsiest tweet ever?

@LizzieViolet @MarcieDreyer@debster7301 @prismsinc I am Conor Friedersdorf. And I can prove that Mr. Levin is deliberately misleading you.

At 12:01 am on a Friday morning, the people who would want to see this film are home in bed. They worked all day, and have to get up and do it again tomorrow.

My wife and I will be attending the 1:10pm showing today.

If you read the fine print…

“The Atlantic” writer is reporting on his experience at a midnight screening … on a Thursday night.

No.

Really.

Read the story again and you’ll see that the emptiness of a midnight screening on a work night is not only worthy of 950+ words and a wildly misleading headline, but also all these subsequent MSM stories filled with similar headlines.

And you can bet there will be more stories to come.

This is how the corrupt MSM works.

“Palin supporters have jobs. They are not teenagers going to movie showings at midnight on a Thursday.”

Well some of them are. To pick up their kid at 2:12 am after they went to see some stupid movie about a wizard and that we’ll end up buying on DVD anyway and watching three times and then it ends up in the back of the TV stand to make room for the other movies that they go see in the theater and then buy on DVD as well just to irritate their dad I think who can’t stand most of the movies they watch but just once I’m going to buy a movie and make my kid’s watch it because they probably won’t ever get around to showing The Undefeated in my area. (I think I need another cup of coffee. Or a Valium.)
