Dems Summoned to White House for Post-Limbaugh Show Meeting

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Folks, big news here. Forbes.com: "Obama Calls Democrat Leaders to White House." They have a meeting to take place shortly before three p.m. In other words: Obama has summoned Democrats only to a post-Rush show meeting at the White House. Obama has told the Democrats in Congress, the leaders: Come to the White House for a meeting after the Limbaugh show. That's what it means when you got a meeting that starts at three o'clock. That means you're meeting after the Rush show. Now, what could their problem be? You figure they got a problem. They're not calling a meeting to celebrate, are they? No, they're not worried about combating the doofus thing.

The Republicans were supposed to have caved by now. The Gang of Six was supposed to have been universally adopted, and it hasn't been. See, the Democrats have a problem, and Obama has a problem. They all know, quote, unquote, "Obama's a great leader;" he's just cursed with bad followers! (laughing) So that's their problem. What are they gonna do? "We know we got a great leader here but the followers are embarrassing as hell. The followers are really bad people. So we need better followers. How are we gonna get better followers?" That will probably be what the meeting is. Somebody asked me if I thought the previous caller who cited the 17th Amendment was basically trying to say the system is the Constitution, and the Constitution is one of the problems where we are with the 17th Amendment and all that.

There is a group of people out there, folks, that want a constitutional convention -- and it would be the nuttiest thing we could do 'cause you'd just turn the whole country over to the left. The parasites, government operatives, that's who would take over and they would rewrite the Constitution so that it would say exactly what thought are doing and what they believe. You know, the left fights on and on. They really do. When you look at how they operate, they don't look for knockout punches. If they could find one they'll throw it, but they keep at it and they keep at it just like the old Soviets did. Soviets didn't have four-year plans. They just had a plan.

They had an objective, and however long down the road it took 'em to get there, that's how long it took -- and they were never deterred until they of course couldn't go on anymore because of their own implosion. But they keep at it and they keep at it; and we, the Republicans, over the course of history, have shown that we will surrender all the time. Now we have people dumping on Reagan and Newt when he was driving the agenda. We have to stay at this. There's no option. There's no choice. We can't cave. There's the no other way out other than to constituent back and watch it all crumble. That's the only option we've got: If we do nothing we sit back and watch it all crumble. Reagan didn't have a conservative House. The House was Democrat his entire presidency.

In the Senate it was Republican a few years, then the Republicans lost it but it was never a conservative Senate. You think if Jim DeMint or Ron Johnson or Marco Rubio were leading the Senate we would have something akin to the McConnell plan offered by any of them? There wouldn't have been a McConnell plan offered if we'd-a had somebody like Rubio leading the Senate! I'm not saying just change the GOP leadership and that will fix things. There's not a single act that's gonna fix things. I'm just making observations out there. I just think we have to press the case at every level, every opportunity, every way. I've lost patience with people that want to capitulate and surrender at the first negative press report. It doesn't fit my agenda.

He may have wanted to meet after Rush, but he’s giving Levin 3 whole hours for a walluping counter punch.

Republicans won by a landslide last November.

Yes indeed-ee! Puts a shiver right up my little ol' leg it does!

I also agree with Rush about a Constitutional Convention...it would play right into the Demo's hands, so it's a no go.

barry the zero still thinks Congress reports to him. And he throws a tantrum every time the legislatures point out in acts that they don’t.

I am still waiting for a single congresscritter to ask, in open forum, of barry: “who in the hell do you think you are?”

That's not what any Conservative is saying. Smart Conservatives are saying, put out a two-tier ballot piggybacked on every presidential general election -- US Constitutional Amendments at the top; and at a lesser level, put out plebiscites for everything that doesn't rise to Constitutional conflict.

The Left couldn't touch any of it. You put an Amendment out, the opposite doesn't just happen. It simply doesn't become an Amendment. But DoMA would win in 2012. Easy. Balanced Budget. Easy.

If it weren't for the Tea Party we woulda caved. If it weren't for the Tea Party there wouldn't have even been a disagreement even after winning the election. If there were a Tea Party leadership, it would be different. I have no doubt about that. Yeah, we elected Newt and the boys and they did balance the budget for the first time in a long time. At the same time the doofuses of this country elected Clinton. There's your system.

Voting on an amendment to the Constitution is not the same thing as a constitutional convention. A constitutional convention would, indeed, be even more subject to hijack by leftist statists than the current government because it would give them a way of writing into a new constitution everything they claim to find in emanations in penumbras of the current one whose letter they don't want to follow. I've heard a number of conservatives warn of the dangers of a constitutional convention over the past few years.

Speaking of the “gang” of six, it seems to me weird that they keep using the word GANG. What comes to mind if you were playing Password? Gang...rape, banger...nothing that sounds too pleasant really. Yet they choose to use the word GANG rather than group or some other less intimidating, less emotionally packed word. Why? My theory is that this is intended to have that edge to it of force, thuggery, and “we don’t care what you think.” Indeed these gangs in the Senate do keep raping our country. We should call them gang-rapists. Two can play at the word sniping. OR we can just go along and keep being really polite and see how that works out. Hmph.

Rush reminded everyone listening today that this usage of “gang of ____” started with the ChiComs when Mrs. Mao and the other 3 of “the gang of four” took over China from Chairman Mao. You observation was also quite correct, however.

RUSH: Are you saying the Constitution is the problem then?

CALLER: Well, not necessarily as it was originally founded, I don't. Personally I think the major turning point was the 17th Amendment. I don't think that if we had senators who represented states, that we would have ended up with the Supreme Court that we have, which would allow the things that it has as far as interstate commerce and all the rest.

The caller made a very good point here and prior to this exchange. He said to Rush that our current system, regardless of the best intentions of even the Tea Party, is "predetermined to spend money," and described it as a "systemic problem."

It's an excellent point and Rush could probably have expanded it to an even better monologue. It's understandable though, that he took a different tack and used it to make a point about the Tea Party.

This "gang of" meme is an ironic echo of the reform movement in Maoist China back in the 60's. They were called the "gang of four," in the West, or in offical Chicom publications, "the radical revisionist renegade clique."

Oh and btw, they were foiled in Peking just as they will be foiled in DC.
