Reid: We Must Raise Taxes! (Barry dumps Dems on taxes?)
Nationa Review ^ | 07/21/11 | Andrew Stiles

Posted on 07/21/2011 12:45:50 PM PDT by TonyInOhio

Senate Democrats just wrapped up a meeting with OMB Director Jack Lew in the Capitol and they are not pleased. All indications are that the reports Dan cites are more or less accurate. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) told reporters that a call came in from the White House during the meeting to announce a “potential agreement” with House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio).

Reid appeared to confirm reports that the proposed deal would not raise significant revenue, at least in the near term, and indicated that he didn’t think this would be acceptable to Democrats in congress. “The president always talked about balance, there had to be some fairness in this,” he said, grimly. “This can’t be all cuts. There has to be balance, there has to revenue and cuts.”

So, provided the reports are generally true, is Obama really willing to sell all Congressional Democrats down the river (apart from the moderates facing reelection in 2012) just to win another term? I think the answer is self-evident.

Not necessarily. You know that communist was willing to take as much time as was necessary to apply as much pressure as was necessary to get enough legislators to cave in to his demand for the health control law. I think you also know the scenario. A terrible compromise is floated and then one by one the critters flip, slide, and surrender to the will of the communist in chief.

Sure, but that was when the Dems had a large majority in the House and a larger majority in the Senate than he has now.

He must primarily work with the larger margin in the House that is now Repub. A few Dems will then help him to pass the bill in the Senate (red state Dems).

Because they've locked in so much spending under Obamacare, which didn't have nearly enough on the 'revenue' side to pay for it, TARP I, TARP II, and all the other crap that there's literally no money to pay for any of it.

They have to have more money or their precious programs will collapse.

But you see the taxes are only on wages not on investment income. Everyone in the Senate and House has protected their income through investments and non-profits and all sorts of other gimmicks. If you think they pay any taxes at all you are just kidding yourself. The only thing they are required to pay is on their salary and I am sure they have enough deductions to offset any payment.

Shock. Amazement. Mouths agape. But since Cut Cap and Bend Over includes a debt ceiling increase it won’t matter.

I don't believe or trust anything that Obama says or does. He is a walking talking contradiction. They used to call it lying, now it's just regular politics.
Sounds like a FReeper to me.

Let me put this idea of revenue and spending in perspective so my family can easily understand the issue.

Me :”Honey, we have to cut our spending.”

Wife: “Ok honey but you will have to get a raise from your employer.”

Me: OK honey, I'll talk to my boss tomorrow. He is a very smart man. I'm sure he will understand our predicament.

I believe you are right. Even if Hussein goes along with this “deal”, you can be assured he will use Executive Orders, czars, and regulatory agencies as well as the corrupt DOJ and public unions to extract wealth from the populace.

He is never going to be about governing...his dream is to wreck our prosperity and redistribute the wealth.

What happens on FR if President Obama folds and Boehner and the GOP stand firm and the debt limited doesn’t get raised?

Most will say it wasn't enough.

That happens, its morning in America again. FR will set a new record for posting in one day.

For Congress that day may give them the fortitude (once they see the planet did not stop spinning) to take steps to end the US Debt once and for all.

Two steps would be, monetizing the debt we owe ourselves; that would save hundreds of billions in interest payments alone. As far as the foreign debt owed, renegotiating that debt; with all the powers of persuasion (stick and carrot) on the table.

Maya Angelou, the Leftist poet who performed at the Clinton inauguration, perhaps said it best. The oppressed individual does not yearn for freedom, he or she yearns to feel their boot heel against the neck of the oppressor.

Barry needs to deliver some payback to his constituents against the ones they perceive as evil. Ergo, raise taxes on those Eeeeeeevil rich.
