John Boehner responds: Obama 'moved the goal posts'
L.A. Times ^ | 7/22/11 | Michael A. Memol

Negotiations on a debt ceiling increase broke down when President Obama made a late push for additional tax increases House Speaker John Boehner said late Friday, countering the president's account of the swiftly-deteriorating talks. Moments after Obama professed to be puzzled at Republicans' unwillingness to accept "an extraordinarily fair deal," Boehner said it was the president who scuttled the plan. "The White House moved the goal posts," he said, with Obama demanding $400 billion in revenues beyond what the two had already agreed to. "It's the president who walked away from his agreement and demanded more money at the last minute."

I don’t blame Obama for trying....he is systematically destroying the country, and so far, nobody has made any effort to stop him.

Of course. That’s all these country club R’s do is cave. Obama musta tried to “bump” him at the last minute, and it backfired.

I propose we replace Geithner with a drunken sailor. Spending would be reduced.

Obama wants to destroy the economy either by destroying the dollar or by overburdening us with taxes. The last thing he wants is a deal.

I have to admit the Communists have played this well. No one wants to admit the first black Pres__ent of the US is a traitor.

Boner calls it “revenue increases” and “tax increases” at the same time.

When he talks about his “deal” with Obama, he called it an 800 BILLION “Revenue” increase, ...

but when he referred to Obama’s attempt to add 400 BILLION more, he called it 400 BILLION “tax” increase.

--------------------------

I agree Hoosier

I AGREE WITH THAT

Usually when a President's party gets an election reaming, as it did in 2010, the President moves to the middle. Zer0, who fancies himself a king, is pedal-to-the-metal for the cliff.

Conservatives should call a press conference three times a day exposing the fraudulent behavior of the rats. Do what's right. The country is depending on you.

A visit to the woodshed2
It's not my fault!

Take Barack Jackwagon Marx to the woodshed in 2012.

Refuse to raise the debt ceiling! Now's the time to have some big, brass, clanging baiis. Please.

Countdown until Obama leaves Office: 547 days as of July 22, 2011.

I have been suspecting boner would try the old tax by a different name crap, from that word dance he played with Rush yesterday. Do not forget this is the man that passed a bill cutting money from a none approved budget and told you it was a real cut. Cry baby cannot be trusted.

He knows there will be no default. He just wants to squash Boehner like a bug, publically, and humiliate the Tea Party Republicans, before he gets his debt limit increase. He wants everyone to understand that he is in control and the Republicans can not/will not do anything about it. A huge boost to his credibility especially with his base.

Obama will counter with 300 billion in tax increases on top of Boehners 800 billion in revenue increases and they will have their deal.

It just means the end of Boehners career and lights out for the repugnican party. Good riddance

Typical liberal terrorist mindset at work: pretend to negociate, then once the opposition lowers their guard, move the goal posts and shoot them in the back.

Call me stupid, but I just don't accept the premise that Boehner is a "country club R" in general. I do think he is concerned, as most should be, that we have an egomaniac at the helm that in my opinion would damage the full faith and credit of the US before cutting off handouts to his voting base. Send the welfare checks before paying the bills doesn't seem that far off the charts for Obama in my opinion.

The real problem is that I think we have a Speaker that is really concerned about the nation negotiating with an egomaniac that doesn't. Tough place to negotiate from if you ask me. He seems to have made a great move in taking the debate out of the WH shadows and at least into the congressional shadows. If he can succeed in holding the line and marginaling BO in the process and avoiding the dangers of default (real or perceived) he will have accomplished something huge in my uniformed opinion.

I expect that Boehner's end run back to the constitutional way of allocating the US's funds will drive BO up a wall. First BO will be pissed, then he will beg for a short term deal, then he will cave. There is nothing worse for an egomaniac to have to accept than failure. They will always try to take creidt for others actions, and blame failures where possible, but they always avoid responsibility - something that is virtually impossible to do when you are president and expected to understnad that the "buck stops" with you.

Whether BO understands that or not is really the deciding factor as to how ugly this gets in the real world IMHO...

()bama is not a juggler. Jugglers have to keep at least three things in the air at once. A President must keep about fifty. His lack of experience was glossed-over for things like pant creases, nice smile, and the unique composition of skin- more melanin than a white person, less than a black person.

See, Hillary was supposed to be the pick, but then along came 'you-know-who' and she went gladly to the back of the bus with a token appt to Sec. of State. Not under, but to the back.

2008 was to be Bill Clinton's third term with his housefrau as lead puppet which would have made it easier to understand who was pulling the strings than what we have now.

What we don't have is a recipe for success that America (pre-socialist) will accept. Because socialists don't do competition. Capitalist do, but they are fewer in number and declining. Boehner needs to realize he's dealing with radicals intent on 'fundamentally transforming' this country. 'Till then, they'll continue on the march. If he's not careful, they'll march over his head. Take it from Mao, it can be a Long March.
