good, I hope to see a lot more of this in the future
Even better than a cut. What has the FAA done for us lately?
Good riddance to useless baggage.
Obama-damn-a-wing-nut gets to walk to his Birthday part hay in Chichen Go!
If this screws up my Hawaii trip, I’m going to be p!ssed.
Beginning of the cutting back. Keep it up Republicans.
$16 million in cuts in a $16 Billion dollar agency??
1/10 of 1%?
Does this help take us out of the “unexpected” scene with unemployment?

Apparently you have too much money. You need to pay more taxes.
As a pilot, I can tell you that the FAA is referred to by pilots as a “tombstone agency.” That is, they run a flawed flight management system which results in an occasional crash or collision. If we had an “on the ball” FAA, we would already have an ATC system based on GPS instead of a bunch of overpaid, and probably overworked people in radar rooms around the country trying to keep planes separated utilizing antique radars (some still use vacuum tubes) and a manual “shrimp boat” system that was new back during WWII.
You have to start the cuts with the first dollar somewhere don’t you???
Appreciate your input.
I know their stuff is ancient, and wondered what the pilot’s view was on this.
If we can control air traffic safely without these 4,000 people, why do we need them in the first place? (How many have pointy hair?)
Unless they’ve gone to flat-screen displays, every single ATC display console has one (big) cathode ray vacuum tube in it ;-) But your point is well taken, I couldn’t believe they were using the shrimp boats as late as the 80s...
Look on the bright side. Our airline tickets just went down 40 bucks.
Gee all those taxes... that worse than my phone bill. Glad I gave up flying.A shutdown of the Federal Aviation Administration will mean that airlines no longer collect some federal ticket taxes, but other taxes would remain. A round-trip ticket with a base fare of $239.26 from Peoria, Ill., through Chicago O'Hare to Raleigh-Durham, N.C., would run up taxes of about $61, for a total cost of $300. Those taxes include: » Excise tax of 7.5 percent, $17.94. » Four airport passenger facility charges of $4.50 each, $18. » Four flight segment taxes of $3.70 each, $14.80. » Four federal security charges of $2.50 each, $10. » Total taxes: $60.74 The excise tax and the four flight segment taxes go away in a shutdown. Total savings: $32.74. Remaining taxes: $28. Note: Taxes would be lower on a nonstop flight because there would be fewer flight segments. Other taxes apply to international flights. A tax refund is what is paying for the trip. The US Goobermint probably regrets giving me that refund so that I can enjoy it. The last laugh may be on me, I have to make it through the Gropeathon TSA boys.
Make sure you wear clean panties.
