~ EXCERPT ~

USAA, the financial services company catering to military members, is preparing to give some members an advance loan on their paychecks if the debt ceiling negotiations disrupt their pay.

USAA said it would provide the interest-free advances to military members on active duty who already have their military pay directly deposited in a USAA account. The one-time loan would be for eligible members' Aug. 15 paycheck.

Several Republican lawmakers had introduced a bill into Congress looking to make military pay the top priority in the event a deal isn't reached. A spokesman for Sen. Pat Toomey (R., Pa.) said Monday he would also introduce a rule to ensure that military pay was a priority.

Watch Obami sign an EO to prohibit this USAA move.

Gotta deny the military any of their hard earned wages in O priority one.

Fine, but it is absolutely asinine that anything like this has to be considered.

Best company I’ve ever dealt with....bar none.

Thanks to my grandfather for affording me the opportunity to be a USAA member.

Amen - as an Air Force brat, I screwed up and lost the benefit right after college (3 speeding tix in 6 months), but when I contacted them 5 years later right before entering the Air Force, they said, “Yes, we have your file waiting for you - glad you’re back, here’s your USAA number.” Wow.

Love USAA! We use them, and our daughter, a soldier is also insured through them. So she would be covered. Our son is a Marine, not currently driving, so he wouldn’t. Oh well. If it comes to it, we could cover him.

I was going to suggest this company to my son in the military. How convenient is it for them when they are deployed?

USAA is an excellent example of a company that takes care of service members and is not government funded. I’ve been a member for forty years. I only wish they offered health insurance.

I’ll add in with everyone else: USAA is a great company. I wouldn’t get my car, motorcycle, or homeowner’s insurance anywhere else.

I’ve also been with them since commissioning in 1967...I don’t recall that you could get insurance with them until you were commissioned...but then again lots of things I don’t recall!

USAA is great. Been with them for 40 years.

They goofed big time when we moved to Texas, but otherwise all has gone well.

When USAA expanded their coverage to include enlisted, they had a huge expansion of members. We’ve been with almost 40 years.

I signed up with this company for car and home insurance simply because they had the best ratings. Didn’t know till after what a great service they provide for military families.
