ATF agent denies ‘walking’ guns into Mexico

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agent Brian Newell continues to deny Operation Fast and Furious allowed for guns to be “walked” into Mexico.

“Sir, in this investigation, we did not let guns walk,” Newell told House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican, at a Tuesday hearing.

Newell was the lead agent in ATF’s Phoenix field office throughout Operation Fast and Furious.

“You’re entitled to your own opinions, not to your own facts,” Issa responded. “But, there comes a point when I go, ‘Wait a second: 730 weapons bought by a man who had no money. Every penny he bought with he had to get from somebody.’ You knew that at some point. You knew who was buying them and you allowed it to continue.”

After Newell’s outright denial of “walking” guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, the committee’s top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, asked Newell to define “walking” guns.

Cummings is a real dirt ball. He needs to be held accountable for his silly objections.

Cummings is a real dirt ball. He needs to be held accountable for his silly objections.

He is scum, but by asking that one simple question, he got this agent to perjure himself, and thats going to be proven, and thats going to be used to nail zero. There is a reason why lawyers say, that sometimes the most important questions are the ones you do not ask.

Isn’t that what’s meant? That the sales were made with knowledge of where they were going?

Issa responded. “But, there comes a point when I go, ‘Wait a second: 730 weapons bought by a man who had no money. Every penny he bought with he had to get from somebody.’ You knew that at some point.

Well, how the hell did Newell respond to that??

WTF?

In undercover investigations letting a suspect take possession of contraband is called a controlled delivery. There always comes a point where you have to get the contraband back. Usually there are pre briefed contingencies for calling a stop to the operations and taking custody of the contraband.

I've never ever heard of an op where they purposely let contraband go. As far as I know it just isn't done. Does it happen sometimes? Yes, but that is always through a mistake or mishap. You never, ever move stuff across a border. Even if Mexican law enforcement knows about it you still have to notify the State Dept., and then you might as well advertise it in the newspaper.

Heads should roll here. Right up the chain: Cummings, Holder and Zer0! This had to be OKed by our jackwagon president.

ATF agent denies 'walking' guns into Mexico

'In this case, they threw the ATF best practices manual out the window,' ATF's attache to Mexico, Carlos Canino said. 'You let a guy buy 730 guns – at what point are you going to stop him?'

ATF agent Brian Newell did, however, admit 'mistakes were made' with Fast and Furious.

In response Rep Darrell Issa, (R-CA) said the American people deserve answers. 'There comes a point when we have to have more than just mistakes were made.'

Way at the bottom of the page:

“In this case, they threw the ATF best practices manual out the window,” Canino said. “You let a guy buy 730 guns – at what point are you going to stop him?”

Newell did, however, admit “mistakes were made” with Fast and Furious. In response to that, though, Issa said the American people deserve answers. “There comes a point when we have to have more than just ‘mistakes were made,’” Issa said.

Answers!!

Who was the guy that walked in with no money, and out with 730 guns...

Where da money come from? Who was he?

They can't answer, yet they were going to track guns from the guy with no money headed into a Mexican black hole?

There always comes a point where you have to get the contraband back.

The news reports are saying this didn't happen. They're reporting numerous cases where the weapons sold have been used in crimes. I thought this was the whole thrust of the scandal.

No, it was part of a top-secret government program aimed at supporting atheism. They were trying to crossbreed guns with lizards. Unfortunately, the guns in the experiment grew little tiny legs, and actually walked across the border themselves.
