STOP CONGRESS FROM PASSING AMERICA'S DEBT ONTO VETERANS 10 for 10 plan

10 for 10” plan is a breach of faith with America’s military and veteran families

July 27, 2011

America’s all-volunteer military has shouldered a multi-theater war all by themselves for almost 10 years. They did so without question, and often with tremendous sacrifice to themselves and their families.

The nation is now in another crisis — a debt crisis — one that could have serious repercussions on a military at war and a veterans' population that has already sacrificed much for the nation. This is because some in Congress now want America’s military and her veterans to shoulder more of the national debt instead of debating and enacting meaningful fiscal reforms.

In recent months, leaders in Congress have discussed cutting or eliminating 10 benefits affecting military members, veterans and their families. This “10 for 10” plan — to cut 10 specific benefits to pay for 10 years of war — is a breach of faith with America’s military and veteran families, and the national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. and its Auxiliaries is calling upon his 2 million members to fight it.

“You are being sold out by BOTH SIDES.”

There are two sides?

With all of the huff n’ puff, spin, and outright lies we hear and see in the media and from special interests these days, it really is a leap of faith to take stories like this seriously. The story, itself, doesn’t have any references or links or quotes.

Can we get a quote from an elected official or their spokesperson, or a HB #, or something from the VFW?

You do realize that the goal here is to re-institute the draft.

/Without enough ‘volunteers’ we simply MUST have a draft of young men and women to meet our commitments./s

And of course I can see basic slave wages for the term of the draftees term.

Yes, I’m smart enough to know that, only it will be conscription not draft and you can bet their precious sons and daughters aren’t going to be the ones conscripted. They are going to also have to conscript doctors to take care of the Medicare age people.

We are both Medicare/Tricare hubby is a Ret. Senior Chief and 71, and we are finding it hard to find doctors, some will, some won’t take you as of now, but 0’care has not fully kicked in yet. No Military hospital or docs in our area, even if you as a retiree could get in.

Personally I think if you run for higher office you should serve a 4 year hitch beginning as an E1 with no help from daddy and mommy.

We like people on SS have had no COLA’s in 2 years, but have seen his Navy pension decrease by $525 in new TAXES. Besides the doubling of food and gas prices.

The 10 ways Congress is targeting military and veterans’ benefits during today’s difficult fiscal times are to:

* Increase healthcare premiums for military retirees on TRICARE
* Increase pharmaceutical fees for troops, families and retirees
* Eliminate presumptive service-connected conditions for disabled and ill veterans
* Lock out or increase fees for Department of Veterans Affairs Priority Groups 7 and 8 veterans
* Reduce cost-of-living allowances
* Freeze military pay
* End government subsidies to military commissaries
* Eliminate Department of Defense elementary schools stateside
* Eliminate the 20-year military retirement plan
* Eliminate DOD tuition reimbursement programs for service members

Go to the VFW link. Check with your AM Legion post in your area. VFW put out this particular info, but Townhall put out the article on 0 wanting to gut the Military. Link for that is in the body of this thread. It is an FR posted link, so you will get a lot of comments.

The Bachman links are legit. She had the nutty idea to put VA care which is on shaky ground, under the broke Medicare.

Express Scripts which provides meds for many retired Military just bought the scandal plagued Medco for $29 B. They also just offered Walgreen’s such a low reimbursement rate, Walgreen’s when their contract with Tricare is up will not be taking Tricare at all. Just more nails into a one system provider box. And if you think dealing with reg. health ins is a pain, try dealing with the witch Express Script if you need any thing but a generic and you won’t know from one month to the next if you are going to receive the same meds.

Did you need some additional info? or were you just marking a thread so you could come back and read later?

This is not the first time congress has broke faith with the Military and Veterans.

Thanks and good for you, please pass this info on to your conservative email list. The word is slowing leaking out about the gutting of the Military being planned by BOTH parties in back room deals.

I know there are places in the DOD to cut, but pay and benefits to Vets and active duty is not where you cut. You have 30-40 big wig with vested retirements that could retire first. And stop make things the Military does NOT want, just so you can bring the pork home.
