McCain erupts: Conservatives are lying to America
The Washington Post ^ | 7/27/11 | Greg Sargent

So the debt limit debate has come to this: John McCain, who you may recall was the GOP’s 2008 standard bearer, is now openly accusing conservatives of actively misleading America with their completely unrealistic demands, which he labeled “deceiving” and “bizarro.” In a seminal moment in this debate, here’s some video of McCain on the Senate floor today, unleashing an angry tirade at conservatives who are still holding out for a balanced budget amendment as part of any compromise on the debt ceiling. McCain accused them of “deceiving” America into believing such a thing can pass the Senate:

Disappointing, needless to say.

Yes, a balanced budget amendment doesn’t stand a chance, but it doesn’t mean we don’t try.

I haven’t always been in favor of one since it would mean painful cuts some years, but it’s clear we just can’t keep the credit cards under control, so cut anyway no matter how much it hurts. These deficits are out of control.

Senator McCain, it's better to die on your feet, than to survive on your knees. You should've learned that from Viet Nam.

His behavior is evidencing, once again, someone who has been battered and abused.....an appeaser and whinner...."afraid of what people will think", which is self -serving. That's why he wil never stand on any issue and fight til it's done if he's opposed. He will always compromise or give up...or sit back andlet others do the deeds. He IS unfit for this office....and by his actions as a Republican Senetor he has pretty much wiped out the honor given for his time in Vietnam IMO.

Let’s not forgive all the claims this jackass made about being Conservative during the AZ Senate primaries.

This senior punk should retire.

He IS unfit for this office...

Yes he is. Every bit as much as John Kerry.

I hesitatingly give John McCain credit for being a better man than Barack Hussein Obama, but I do not believe he is a good man, nor do I believe he should be allowed to be in any position of power over the lives/livelihoods of other human beings.

Obama won for two reasons: George W. Bush and John McLame! Bush was not a good president and I say that having voted for him both times.

McCain was (far) more tenacious during his run-off against a “fellow” Republican, that he was at any time during his race against Obama.

IMHO he was not even trying to win against Obama.

He was making a statement. And he wanted to beat the ‘other’ REPUBLICANS in the primary. The race he really wanted to win in 2008, was the one against REPUBLICANS he has pretended to share a party with. So he could then win the race in 2010, AGAINST A REPUBLICAN.

McCain is a Democrat.

Arizona please fire him!!

America deserves McCain to be offered the opportunity to experience the private sector. Please.

Soonest possible.

He’s not helping ANYTHING or anyone.

Professional sellout.

“Fight with me, fight with me! he yelled at the 2008 GOP convention.

When Sarah went to fight, he pulled the rug out from under here. He was a spoiler for Obama, took a dive for the team, and showed once and for all his disloyalty.

He needs to bow before Obama and become a Democrat, just like the good little Comie Manchurian Candidate traitor he always has been.

Sarah Palin did not deserve to have the millstone of McCain tied around her neck.

This financial kabuki theater is exposing all the traitors, some of which have an R after their name.

Bush became part of the problem, the day he called patriotic American conservatives “vigilantes”.

A big, stubborn, unhelpful part of the problem.

KEEP OUT THE BUSHES.

Who cares what plans can pass the Senate? What matters is what plans can pass the House. Whatever those are, those are the choices the Senate will have. They can either choose to accept one of those, or not. If not, they’ll have to explain to their voters why they insisted on fantasy instead of reality.
