Rossi – Let the eCat Speak For Itself

admin on July 29, 2011 — 2 Comments

Replying to a comment by ‘Dwayne’ on his blog, Andrea Rossi (rather elegantly considering the language issues) explains why he ignores the calls for more ‘proof’. We have heard it before but this is one of the longest posts I’ve seen him make except in anger.

I would guess that he has heard about Krivit’s impending report and this has sharpened his feelings for the subject. With such a short time between now and the 1MW demo, I find such calls puzzling. People want to make better steam or hot water tests or to analyze, frame by frame, videos of a demo that they themselves complain is not set up to measure properly – all this when a 1MW plant will be shown in a few weeks. If we were told by a drug company that they had a pill to cure cancer and would show its fruits at the end of October, we would not demand better proof now or sweat over film of the pill being swallowed by a patient in the meantime – unless you were trying to queer the pitch in some way or were just anally retentive. Anyway, here’s AR’s take on it:

Andrea Rossi

July 29th, 2011 at 3:36 PM

Dear Dwayne,

I agree with your attitude. By the way: my only real problem is to manufacture plants which satisfy the needs of my Customers. Skepticism is not my business. Nor is my business if a person is convinced or not, so far he is not a Customer. Your comment is very smart also on another point: I cannot lose my very limited time to answer or to convince the so called “skeptics”, because whatever I answer they will always have new objections: I saw that Skeptics are divided in the following categories:

1- honest skeptics (like you): they do not need to be convinced by chatters, they are like you, they wait for a 1 MW plant in operation, and after that to the thousands of 1 MW plant in operation which will follow up

2- Competitors: they want to know how my toy works: they will never accept an explication unless they are put in condition to copy my tech: with them my time should be totally lost, or negatively (for me) employed;

3- Lobbysts against my tech and “journalists” paid by competitors or lobbysts : whatever I will say, they will shoot. Ignoring them. their shoots will make the effect of tennis balls against a tank

4- Imbeciles: an army of persons that have nothing to do and play the scientists, without even understanding what they are talking about; to talk with them is a pure loss of time

The categories 2 and 3 are the most vociferous in asking new public tests in “indipendent” labs, wherein “indipendent” means a lab in competition with us and in contact with them…one among the most called for is also the one that has organized a campaign against me, to try to discredit my work, buying a “journalist”. Never mind: just other tennis balls against my tank: the 1 MW plant that I will put in operation in October and that will be the first of a long sery. My plants will talk for me: FACTS, AGAINST CHATTERS. Let them chatter, we will see. And I am sure you will be glad to know that from our analysis we understood that in the Skeptics universe most of People thinks like you. The competitors, lobbysts, corrupt journalists, imbeciles battalion is made of a small number of persons that to try to appear more persons than they are invent a lot of fake names. Our informatics have found one imbecile who has coined for himself 11 different names and email addresses…basically, is a small and not significant self- referencing community. If my plants will work well for my Customers, they will be the last of my problems. If my plants will not satisfy my Customers, they will be the last of my problems. Definitely, in any case they will be the last of my problems, so there is no reason for me to lose my time to repeat thousands of time the same things. I am putting my life on this stake, I have bertter to do than to listen these guys.

After this analysis, it is clear why I have chosen to employ my time only to work as hard as possible. While the imbeciles chatter, you have not idea of the difficulties I have to overcome every day.

Warm regards,

A.R

His response to #2 makes it sound fake. He would get a patent and then be able to sue anyone that uses it.

Regarding patents, it is tricky. First, a patent is only good in the country/region it is granted in. Europe, Russia, China are all independent. Unless you have patents granted in all these countries you still aren’t fully protected. And then on top of that, you do something a little different as in using slightly different materials, structures, etc. than the original patent and it may not cover it.

And...

Generally when issued a patent in the US you have to bring it to market within a couple of years or your patent can be challenged and protection lost.

Rossi doth protest too much. I can’t imagine a reputable scientist/engineer talking dismissively the way he does about technical criticisms of a discovery or new technology, let alone one that hasn’t passed any real scrutiny other than his staged events and testimony of close friends and associates. If he said “I’m not disclosing the manner in which it works at this time so I won’t entertain theories or criticisms until it goes online” then I might find it a bit more believable, but not this dog and pony public relations bs he’s been orchestrating over the last few months.

It certainly seems wrong. As in the approach to revealing/marketing it.

All you really have to do is have a few top level world renowned physicists sign nondisclosure agreements and then give them full access to the apparatus and let them report if they think it is real or not. Its operation wouldn't have to be understood under any currently known theory to effectively eliminate chemical processes as the energy source if it produces far more energy than could come from the chemical processes of the materials used. That leaves something else, explained or not.

Agree completely. NIST, Underwriters Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, or any number of outfits under non-disclosure agreements could easily verify or debunk it without breaking a sweat.

And, to boot, a patent in Russia and China are only as respected as long as the government cares to respect it. The moment those governments want your product, they’ll just take it.

He should gear up and turn out 1KW units that work. He owes explanations to nobody. The Chinese are salivating to rip this off via reverse engineering or by too many “proofs” and chatter done for skeptics. Patents are useless here, only serve to reveal too much to thieves and copy cats. Why should he reveal too much to help the rip off artists? It actually helps his cause by seeming evasive and a dicey character

If you think Rossi is a liar then don’t buy one of his first 1KW units. Rossi could be a faker but we’ll soon know when these 1KW units are rolled out. If they work then it will be a real energy revolution. Everyone will be trying to steal, rip-off and copy it by any means possible

As someone said — Patents don’t apply in China and Russia and other places. They do what the he!! they want. They reverse engineer what they want then sell copies.

What a joke. That place is crawling with foreigners who would steal Rossis Cold Fusion for China, India, Russia take your pick. Give them shiite! The proof is easy, when the 1KW units come out they will work as advertised or they will not

Exactly why you let the Cold Fusion units do the talking. If they don't work then Rossi a fraud. If they do work then they change the energy markets forever. With Rossi and partners lucky to make 3-10 billion before they are irrevocably ripped off and perhaps improved upon by China, India, Israel. Imagine what a few thousand of your nation's best scientists could do to improve on Rossi's Cold Fusion.

You are falling for the “oh poor me, they’re going to steal it” victim role Rossi is using to play the media like a fiddle. Patents are issued daily for all manner of advanced technical trade secrets from algorithms to manufacturing processes and it’s worked pretty well for industry. If he can’t take the heat of technical scrutiny then he needs to shut his trap, set up a powerplant next to the grid of his choice, cash his checks, laugh at us non-believers, and not play the poor victim of the patent/non-disclosure process that everyone else uses.

What does a non-disclosure agreement get you ? That’s no protection that billions of dollars of bribery can’t get past. The only way to keep a secret is if nobody else knows it. Even patents only get you protection for a couple decades. If you are confident something can’t be reverse engineered, you’re a fool to get a patent or tell anybody how it works.

If this does work then trillions are at stake. If I am Rossi I trust no one. Everyone has a price. Everyone is a potential thief in this situation. Everyone can be bribed or coerced

October is soon enough. You can call Rossi a fake in October

What does a non-disclosure agreement get you?

A legally binding contract.

Well, you’ll never have legal protection in places like China or Russia, so there’s no point in worrying about that.

As soon as the device is on the market, they will just buy one and copy it.

There’s nothing you can do about that.

So this worry about stealing the technology is a non-starter.

Shut up and produce working devices that can be evaluated independently.

It would be great if the process is for real and practical.

Come October Rossi can fire up one of his units and light up some lights and the world will be right again or he'll have “technical problems” that will push the debut back and back into oblivion.

I can't wait, either way.

Exactly. Billions are at stake here. Honest men can be bribed or threatened. Rossi is doing this just right. We will all know in October if the 1KW units work
