Reid's Debt-Ceiling Bill Fails in Test Vote,,,(CCB still only "game" in town)

Democrats' debt-ceiling bill failed to clear a key Senate hurdle Sunday afternoon, putting the onus on bipartisan negotiators to come up with an alternative plan with just two days to go until the Treasury runs out of ways to pay all of America's bills.

The vote on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's plan was expected to fail. Sixty votes were required to advance the proposal, and it fell far short in a 50-49 roll call.

The focus now turns almost exclusively to the latest round of talks being conducted among White House officials and Senate leaders. After disagreeing about the status of those negotiations the day before, Senate leaders indicated Sunday that they were making good progress on the new proposal.

Thats funny. But this was even worse. Crosseyed open mouthed with the bottom teeth showing. If I was a politician, being aware of cameras, I would only ever have 1 non-descript expression on my face.

Dems voting against Reid:

Reid (D-NV) (a procedural maneuver related to later reconsideration)

Now that's confidence, NOT!

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) tell POLITICO they will probably not object to a unanimous consent agreement to fast track a debt limit deal.

“I think we have to have a 60-vote margin, and I probably won’t object if there’s a time agreement,” Paul told POLITICO.

He may have lost more than that. Until I see the names, I’ll be convinced that those such as Snowe, Collins, Graham, McCain, Kirk, Scott Brown and the doofus from Oregon all voted with the Democrats, and their hearts.

they’ve packaged a deal suitable to Obama, House Dems have to come on board and support their president. Most of the GOP caucus can vote NO

Too late smart, how could Republicans not know this was coming? Can enough Republicans stick together and vote no on the changed bill?

“He just keeps on pushing his party....”

Because he is driven by a hate-filled ideological agenda. He erroneously sees wrong where there wasn't wrong, and is on a mission to ‘right; it, even though he will hurt many, many people who had nothing to do with the ‘wrongs’ that he perceives. His is a reckless and harmful agenda that is not unlike that put forth by the racist who preached from the pulpit while Obama sat in church each Sunday.

The big question is why did so many believe it would be any different than this? Why did people ignore the cumulative evidence from Obama’s associations, and the statements he made by surrounding himself with people like Valerie Jarrett and Van Jones?

As I posted here last week, Brown proved he was not one of us when he publically advertised his daughters’ availability after winning the ‘09 election.

No conservative would do something like that.

Don't you get it. The vote was supposed to fail on the Reid plan. Now they can move on to the real deal that has already been brokered. They are just going thru the motions. First the Boehner bill had to come out of the House so the Senate had a vehicle to present the alternative plan. But before they did that, the Senate had to shoot down the Reid plan. Reid voted down his own plan so he could bring it back again with the new deal alternative. This is all kabuki political theater.
90% of the people on here don't seem to understand this. CCB means nothing, Boner bill means nothing, Reid bill means nothing - they are just a procedural way to bring the "great compromise" to the floor. Everyone says the House will never accept any compromise without a BBA, etc. WRONG! The Tea Party house members will no longer support it but there are plenty of RINOS that will and the lost Tea Pary votes will more than be made up for by the Dims. This thing is over and we only have 22 House members brave enough to stick by their convictions. Primary challenges, anyone?

Oh my cow—I hadn’t heard about Brown doing that with his daughters. That is very creepy. Ick!

His bio sounded very strange too. He was molested as a boy, but even now refuses to say who did it. That (1) throws suspicion on even the innocent counselors at the camp (where it happened), and (2) means the guy could still be abusing boys. Icky stuff all around.

I sure hope the guy is primaried out!
