Sen. John McCain, Republican of Arizona, specifically ripped a member of his own party, as well as the tea party conservatives, on the Senate floor this afternoon. Here's what he said: I came to the floor a couple of days ago and made that comment, and the Senator from Illinois (Durbin) and I are in agreement, point number one. you can prioritize -- I think the Senator and every economist I know literally would agree. You can prioritize for awhile where you want what remaining money is left, but the message you send to the world, not just our markets but to the world, that the United States of America is going to default on its debts is a totally unacceptable scenario and beneath a great nation. We are in agreement. Number one: passage through the United States Senate of a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as I said before, is not fair to the American people because, because the terrible obstructionists on this side of the aisle, the terrible people, their flawed philosophical views about the future of America is not going to allow to us get 20 additional votes from your side, assuming that you get all 47 since it requires 67 votes to pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. The member he was referring to is Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA).

"Barack Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life."
Democrat Senator McCain needs to STFU ! I remember when Rush Limbaugh referred to him as such.
Good catch. Petain was senile also he just looked impressive and was smart enough to restrict his discourse to oracular generalities.
McCain is no worse than Bush and Santorum when they threw their support to Spector.
Automatic grounds for recall. Fire his ass, Az.
I agree. I could see him somehow screwing her over anyway. He’s been very kind so far when pressed about a possible Palin run, though.
Here's the first paragraph.
UPDATE: A McCain spokesperson says: "Sen. McCain is actually jokingly referring to the Democrats as terrible obstructionists and terrible people who wont vote for the Balance Budget Amendment making the point that BBA cant pass at this time. Hes not talking about Sen. Toomey at all."
We regret the error.
So in many of your haste to bash McCain no one bothers to point out that he was not referring to Toomey.
I was shocked when McLame was not named the DNC Campaign Chairman .
(And has McCain ever called 0 a "terrible obstructionist"?
Kudos, Senator Toomey
You can measure the stature of a man by the pettiness of his critics
Men don’t get any pettier than Juan McCain
(Is McCain losing it big time? Did he have a stroke or something?)
Who here remembers the “recall McCain” campaign back in 2001? It was really gaining steam until 9-11 brought it to an abrupt end. I think it’s high time we relaunch that campaign.
McCain needs to retire. It’s as simple as that.
I really hate that man. What a piss poor excuse for a Republican. What the Hell is wrong with the good people of Arizona?
Not Hobbits? Now its terrible people?
Maybe his brilliant daughter is writing his floor speeches.
I had forgot that quote. Isn’t always heart warming when members of the ruling class snuggle up the arses of Islamic socialists whose main intent is to destroy this country. Makes my day, I’ll tell ya.
Yep I posted that above about 6 or 7 posts up.
However there are still a lot of mindless posts by people who really don't care whether he did or not and just want to keep bashing him.
There are a lot of people here who don't really think out a situation or have a position other than to bash and complain.
This site is not what it once was, it is not populated by whiney people who instead of giving a thought out position make the kind of posts in this topic, then even continue when they know an error was made.
It's sad.
McCain is a Specter clone!
He wants the praise of the MSM and he only gets that when he’s ripping the Republicans and especially the conservatives. He was the MSM Republican candidate last time foisted on us. It’s also his swan song term in Congress so look for him to do more of this and become more liberal than Sen Snowe.
Here's what I quoted: the Senator from Illinois (Durbin) and I are in agreement
Was he joking about that as well? Kinda doubt it since it sounds like something that ol' maverick would wholeheartedly say. So, here's what I say:
Recall McCain! For the children!
